Professionals from across our country will be meeting this weekend in Columbus, Ohio for Session Three of The Metz Center's intensive and extended course in excellence. The two day session will be held Friday, June 2 from 9:00 to 5:00 and Saturday, June 3 from 9:00 to 4:00 at Dr. Metz' practice within a beautifully renovated historic 'Arts and Crafts Movement' building just east of downtown Columbus.

Dr. Metz at ATS 2017 Entrance This year's American Thoracic Conference was held in Washington, D.C. during May 19th through May 24th in Washington, D.C.  The Dental Sleep Medicine Interest Group, chaired by James E. Metz, DDS, started the event by offering a postgraduate course, titled Oral Appliance Therapy & Related Topics in Dental Sleep Medicine on Friday, May 19th.  PG-10 speakers

The Special Interest Group meeting on Dental Sleep Medicine was held Sunday, May 21st, featured a presentation by Dr. Atul Malhotra, past president of the ATS, on phenotyping obstructive sleep apnea patients to customize their therapy. The postgraduate course was reviewed and summarized by Drs. James Metz, Umakanth Khatwa, and Fernanda Almeida. Mr. Marc Moeller gave a brief presentation on the area of  oral myofunctional therapy including directions for future clinical research and it's role as a potential adjunct therapy for OSA patients.  View more photos

Dr. Metz also met with Ohio Senator Rob Portman and they discussed the benefits of oral appliances.

On May 20th, colleagues joined Dr. Metz on a bus tour of D.C.The tour visited many sites, including the Capitol, White House, World War 2 memorial, Korean War memorial, Vietnam War memorial, the Jefferson and Lincoln monuments, the FDR memorial, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial, and the Iwo Jima memorial for the US Marines. Lunch was at Clyde's, and the afternoon wrapped up with a visit to the International Spy museum. A great time was had by all.

The interest group will re-convene in May 2018 in San Diego for the next ATS International Conference.
