Dear parents and families,

Our Easter Break begins tomorrow at 11:30. I pray that Holy Week and our Easter celebration brings you all closer to God and provides much time for prayer and thanksgiving. These passed few weeks of Lent, our school has been preparing for the resurrection of our Lord (including our 1st graders walking the Stations of the Cross, pictured to the right). Our students will be spending Holy Thursday doing various spiritual activities, ending with a Holy Thursday Prayer Service led by our 8th graders. "Let us ask for the grace to follow Jesus faithfully, not in words but in deeds.  Let us also ask for the patience to carry our own cross, not to refuse it or set it aside, but rather, in looking to him, to take it up and to carry it daily." - Pope Francis.

Congratulations to Samantha Lee and Tiffany Ho for bringing home 1st and 2nd place, respectfully, at the Diocesan Science Fair! Samantha's project was titled "Do Subliminal Messages Work?" and Tiffany's was named "Do Video Game Players Have Faster Reaction Times than Non-Players?" Congratulations to all our Science Fair attendees and thank you for representing Saint Michaels so well!

Tonight: McDonald’s Night! 5:30-7:30. Proceeds go to the school! I hope to see you all there.

On Holy Thursday there will be 11:30 Dismissal and NO AFTERCARE.

Report cards are being sent home today. Please don't store them in your file cabinet, they need to be signed and returned to school. Fr. Drummond and I hand delivered them to all the students.

Please save the date for our Annual Auction on May 6! Tickets are on sale now! Maybe to drum up attendance we'll have some slap stick comedy or a dunk tank! Whatever it takes to make it successful!

God bless,

Daniel Cinalli
Principal
More STREAM Activities
Our Fifth grade students spent time constructing towers for a special STREAM activity this week. They learned about engineering, geometry, team work, communication, and math. Some of the towers were incredibly high, although similar to the Tower of Babel, the students tried to go a bit too high and they fell.

Way to go Fifth grade and Mrs. Kelling!
Mass Buddies Partner Up In Class
Our fourth graders spent some time working with their Mass buddies from kindergarten reading together! Fourth grade students read through some favorite kindergarten books, helping to make the stories come alive!
Capital Club Cleans Up the Tidal Basin!

Capital Club spent their Saturday volunteering their time to clean some DC parks! Very impressive dedication and serving the community Mrs. Parker and club members! Way to represent Saint Michaels!

If you have any down time over the Easter break, why not clean out your medicine cabinet.  It is a good idea to "read, remove, and restock" your cabinet every year.  Read labels for the expiration date, remove medication that is out of date or not being used, and restock with fresh "essentials" such as over the counter pain reliever or cold/flu medication.

After collecting the expired/unused medications, you can bring them to a local facility on a specified date and time for disposal.  This year the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 29th from 10 AM to 2 PM.  They only accept pills and patches, not liquid, needles or sharps.  This service is free and anonymous.  Here are local collection sites:
