Dear O'Hara Families,

We are excited to announce a new hot lunch program at our  school starting  next school year! We realize for some of our families, not providing a hot lunch program this year has b een  a morning struggle of preparing lunches. We thank you for your patience as we formulated a plan that best suits the needs of our community.
 
Beginning on Sept 6th, we will be serving meals provided  by Fresh n' Local,  a Salem-based lunch catering service who utilizes fresh, local, natural and organic ingredients. Each meal will include a hot lunch entrée served with fresh organic fruits and vegetables, with the option to purchase milk. Choosing Fresh n' Local solves the main concerns we heard from parents regarding previous lunch programs. It is the best option to keep our lunch price low, allows us to offer convenient, same-day ordering, and provides a kid-friendly nutritious menu that encourages our children's success in learning. Fresh n' Local is also a nut-free facility and offers lunch options for both gluten-free* and vegetarian diets. 
 
Fresh n' Local is a growing service that other schools in our Archdiocese already use. After reaching out to some of these schools, the reviews from administration and parents have been overwhelmingly positive. The schools realize the benefits of providing healthy lunches and the parents appreciate the convenience. 
 
Lunch pricing is set at $3.95 for grades Pre-School - 3, and $4.95 for grades 4 - 8, with the option of same-day ordering. Because pre-ordering is beneficial for kitchen management and planning, there will be discounts offered to those who choose to pre-order, as well as a discounted option to purchase an annual membership for those families who think they will utilize the program every day. We are pleased to be able to provide a healthy and home-style meal to our students. We know that our students will enjoy the delicious food and will benefit from the focus on fresh fruits and vegetables. We hope that parents will encourage their children to enjoy the new meals. For those who would like to try the food prior to ordering, please join us for a free and informative Parent Tasting on the morning of Monday, May 22, directly following the Monday Morning assembly. In addition to sampling their most popular entrée menu items, parents can ask questions and receive more information regarding the new lunch program. 

An information table will also be set up at both nights of the Spring Program later this week, and Fresh n' Local Foods will also be attending our Passport Day on September 5, 2017, to provide samples to parents and students. 
 
Online ordering and sign-ups will be available starting in the summer. Our ordering system and kitchen management will remain in-house, so please feel free to direct questions or comments to O'Hara parent, Shanna Hutton, the healthy lunch program coordinator.
