Preview the East Bay 2018 Election
BIA|Bay Area's East Bay Regional Policy Committee will preview the 2018 local election landscape at its quarterly meeting on June 7, 2017. Members will review a list of incumbents up for re-election, discuss which candidates the RPC may opt to interview in later sessions and recommend to BIA's Build Jobs PAC for financial support during the 2018 campaign season. The meeting is open to BIA members only and will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. at the offices of KB Home, Training Room (first floor), Bishop Ranch 8 at 5000 Executive Parkway in San Ramon. A complete list of officeholders will be provided to all registered attendees prior to the meeting. Space is limited and registration is required.

Despite BIA|Bay Area objections, Oakley Union Elementary School District increased its Level II school fee 17.4 percent from $2.35 to $2.76 per sq. ft. The new fee went into effect on May 18, 2017. In a letter to District Superintendent Greg Hetrick, BIA East Bay Executive Director of Governmental Affairs Lisa Vorderbrueggen argued that the district improperly understated its existing capacity and, as a result, lacked legal justification to charge Level II fees. Dublin Updating Its Public Facility and Fire Fees
Dublin is revising its public facilities and fire fees with proposed rate changes expected to go into effect this summer. As proposed, the fire fee would increase for single-family from $339 to $870 per unit while multi-family would go to $544 per unit from $207. On the public facilities fees side, some charges would drop while others would increase. Full Story
