June 2017
Three years ago Madison Heights was our first community as we started our company. It has been amazing to watch it grow, touch lives, and fill a need in the Evans market. Since opening Madison Heights we have purchased two other communities in Alabama (Sunrise Ridge and Kelley Place) and we just opened "Madison Heights of Enterprise AL" this past month where we are serving seniors with Alzheimer's and dementia in Enterprise Alabama.  Over the summer we will be opening Legacy Reserve in Lexington Kentucky, a 167 apartment full scale retirement community with the ability to serve Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory care. As we continue to grow we are excited about being able to bring on more regional support to better serve our communities; the most important thing we can do at the home office is serve those who serve our residents.

If there is ever anything I can do for any of you please let me know.

Life History
We love hearing our residents' stories and learning more about their past through memory sharing and pictures.  Many of our residents still take great pride in their past accomplishments and relationships.
We would like the opportunity to highlight these memories and make a recognizable piece to hang outside each resident's door.  We will provide a collage frame that will hold three 5x7 landscape oriented photos or cut outs.
Please see Kelly or Marcus when you are ready to fill a frame for your loved one.
Friends Forever Program
We want to remind our families about our Friends Forever Program!

We love our families and we are grateful for the opportunity to care for your loved one.
Thank you to those of you who have already referred us to to others who can benefit from our personalized approach to caring for residents.

To show gratitude to our families, we would like to increase our referral fee during the summer months to a $1,500.00  credit for families who refer a friend to Madison Heights.

Please contact Laura Brown for details at 706-825-4677 or [email protected].
Mark Your Calendars
Support Group

Join us on the THIRD THURSDAY of each month at 2:00 for Support Group!   We meet at The Alzheimer's Association, located at 106  SRP Drive, Evans, GA.

All family members or caregivers of someone with a dementia diagnosis are welcome to attend.  Don't forget to invite others who you think would benefit from additional support.
Help Others Find Us!
We need your help!   Since our opening in 2014 what we hear the most from community members in Augusta is that they never knew we were even here! In order to spread the word via the internet we humbly ask that you search for "Madison Heights Evans GA" through Google and leave a positive review of our community. These reviews will help boost our placement to the top of the list and make us easier to find for others that are searching for a Memory Care Community for a friend or loved one. Please look for this pop up below and click on "Write Review" Thanks for your help as we look to spread the word!

Friendly Reminders
  • We would appreciate your help in making sure that all important documents and bills are being sent to the responsible party, and not Madison Heights.
  • We all work together to keep Madison Heights clean.  When you visit it would be appreciated it you would dispose of cigarette butts somewhere other than on the property grounds.

Associate of the Month

Congratulations to Linda, our Associate of the Month!

Linda was chosen as Associate of the Month because she has a calm and compassionate demeanor.  She is extremely friendly and caring and is very attentive to the residents. She is a team player who is always willing to help others. She also works hard at keeping the residents active and engaged in activities.

Linda says that her favorite part of working at Madison Heights is caring for the residents and talking and laughing with them.
Spotlight Volunteers
This month's Spotlight Volunteer goes to the Belanger J. Bible Study Group from Journey Community Church.  This group bought the supplies and volunteered their time to make a busy board for each of our buildings.  These amazing boards are especially a favorite of our male residents who enjoy fiddling with the different part and making sure that everything operates correctly.
Why We Work in Senior Housing...
Closing Remarks From Wyman Hamilton
As many of you know I have spent my entire career in Seniors Housing. I have worked both for a non-profit and large corporations as well in communities and corporate offices. One important thing I have learned is that there are a lot easier ways to earn a living than in Senior Housing but there are few industries as rewarding. People do not get into this industry for the money, they get into this industry because they want to make a positive difference in people's lives; they have a passion for serving seniors; and that is amazing to watch.

That is not to say that people don't get jaded along the way or that we don't make bad hires; when that happens we need to own it and correct it immediately; a lot of times we just get so caught up in the stress of the day and we just need to take a step back and remember why we do what we do.  To give you a glimpse of why some of our leadership team works in this industry every day we will begin including  a quote from Atlas's Management Team explaining why we chose to work in senior housing.

"Speaking from a Memory Care point of view: I think the most important thing to keep in mind day in and day out is that we have the ability to have such a positive effect on the resident and family member's lives at such a difficult time. When most people are heavy with emotions seeing their loved lose a sense of who they once were, it's rewarding to know there's not many other professions that have the ability to have such a profound impact on their "customers" like we do." - Marcus Covar

Thank you for entrusting Madison Heights with your loved one as we help you write life's next chapter.
