CATCH UP WITH US: MAY BULLETIN
THANK YOU FOR MAKING KERFUFFLE! 2017 THE GREATEST COMMOTION OF CREATIVITY YET!
Our Music Conservatory participated in the IHSA (Illinois High School Association's Competition) competition this past April! This is the first year all choirs (Jazz Choir, Treble Choir, and Chamber Singers) and the ChiArts Band received Superior Ratings from every adjudicator! Huge congrats to our vocal and instrumental students and instructors for their exceptional pieces and for making ChiArts Music history.

Dance Conservatory Junior, David Lopena, is a recipient of a 2017 Anthony Quinn Foundation Scholarship! The Anthony Quinn Foundation chooses 10 young artists who demonstrate exceptional artistic talent and commitment. David's Malcolm Grear Memorial Scholarship from the AQF will cover his costs to attend the 2017 Nashville Ballet Summer Intensive.

Kayce Bayer, Chris Lin, Devin Mawdsley, and alumnus Deon Reed have been working in close collaboration with the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF) to author, illustrate, and publish a graphic novel! No Small Plans seeks to "empower Chicago youth to design the city they want and deserve." This summer, the 144-page graphic novel will be printed and given to 30,000 Chicago teens over the next three years.

Senior flute player Breanna Vazquez competed in two national chamber music competitions with her trio Earth, Woodwind and Fire through Merit School of Music. Breanna performed at University of Michigan's Chamber Music Competition and the 44th Annual Fischoff Competition. In the fall, Breanna will be attending DePaul University, as a flute performance major.
