" Regarding the Gnostic Esoteric Work, it is written that the growth of one's soul is only possible through the forgiveness of others..... "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth," an absurd "vicious circle."....The Law of Mercy is a more elevated influence."
Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology  Samael Aun Weor

Dear Friends,
Recently, I heard a pod cast of Father Richard Rohr who  said that 2/3's  of what Jesus taught was about forgiveness and the other 1/3 was about inclusion. That sounds about right to me from my study of the teachings of Jesus.  Father Richard Rohr is a Franciscan priest and his Center for Action and Contemplation is in New Mexico. Check out his web site.    www. cac.org/richard-rohr/richard-rohr-ofm.
This month of June Church for Our Common Home we will focus on forgiveness in Christianity and explore several other wisdom traditions. We will  write postcards to God during worship as a way to  name and ritualized  our need to forgive others and ask for forgiveness.   Here are some of the forgiveness teachings in the Christian Bible from  the translation we use often at Church for Our Common Home,  The Inclusive Bible, the First Egalitarian Translation
Mark 11:25  And when you stand praying, forgive anyone against whom you have a grievance, so that your loving God in heaven may in turn forgive you your faults .
Matthew 6:14-15 If you forgive the faults of others, Abba Gad will forgive you. If you do not forgive others neither will Abba forgive you.

Matthew 26:27-28 Then he took a cup, gave thanks and gave it to them. Drink from it, all of you." He said. "This is my blood, the blood of the covenant, which will be poured out on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins.

Luke 17:3-4 3   Be on your guard "If your sisters or brothers do wrong, correct them, if they repent forgive them. If they sin against you seven times a day, and seven times a day turn back to you saying, "I', sorry" forgiven them."

Luke 24: 47-48 In the Messiahs name repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. You are witnesses to all this.

Ephesians  4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, all harsh words, slander and malice of every kind. In place of these, be kind to one another, compassionate and mutually forgiving, just as God has forgiven you in Christ

1 John 1:9 But if we admit our sins, God the faithful and the Just One will forgive our sins and cleanse us from  all injustice.

Why study forgiveness when we have such sensational news of Trump and the new administration to consume our attention?  Well,  times are so dark, with the treat of nuclear war, to say nothing of the horrors of regular war like the recent  dropping of the largest bomb ever in Afghanistan by our country, as well as continued degradation of the earth and all her creatures, children, poor people, sick people, immigrants, people of color, woman, all the most vulnerable (All those who Jesus taught us to include and care for!)  God is calling us to do deep spiritual work in order to stay awake in such dark times. If we do not, we risk drifting into  unconsciousness .   The invitation has never been more urgent to wake up to the nightmare that has been our value system as a nation, not since Trump became president,  but for a very long time.  We must face that we have been in collision with  values of power over, greed, materialism and the glorification of violence and war. Many of us want to live a radically different    spiritual  life and give up the spiritual bankruptcy of our time.  Jesus also lived in a time of Empire and we look to him to learn how to live a radically spiritual life of the spirit, devoted to nature, community and God. Join us every Sunday at 5 pm as we pray, study scriptures from many wisdom traditions including Gnostic scriptures, enter holy communion, anointing and other holy  rituals, share our dreams and break bread and create beloved community.

Amy Goodman of  Democracy Now , and free speech TV  https://www.democracynow.org /came to San Diego last week and I was grateful she spoke of the ecologic crisis and her experiences at Standing Rock, as well as the  threat of escalating war-- even nuclear war. It is such a relief to be with people who are trying to tell the truth about what is going on in our country and world.

Other news. We are in the process of applying for  non profit status to be the umbrella of Church for Our Common  Home and Our Common Home Counseling Center called,
Our Common Home, a Counseling Center and Church.
Our Common Home provides psychological and religious services to awaken to the spiritual and ecologic crisis as an invitation to transform ourselves and create loving community with all of creation, caring for our common home, Mother Earth.

Mission Statement
Encouraging awe and loving intimacy with all of creation and the cosmos, we explore the visual and performing arts, dreams, wisdom teachings of Christ-Sophia in the Bible and newly found Gnostic gospels, prayer, social activism, and relationships as we work to care for our common home Mother Earth, in a new kind of local and global community. Creating beloved community, we study the wisdom traditions and teachings of mysticism. Not following the "traditions" of the Christian church but the teachings of Jesus and Mary Magdalene we also honor  all the world's religious wisdom teachings. We are a home church with people around the world via the Internet, exploring a new religious story for our time.
Vision
Our vision is to spiritually awaken and raise our consciousness about the sacred nature of all life and our inter-connectredness in order to come together as a human family and
care  for our common home and love God/dess with all our hearts, souls and minds and creation as ourselves.

Dog friendly worship and please share your prayer requests.
