Middle School Exit Interviews A Success
Promoting from 8th grade into high school in Culver City requires one of the most incredible student/community experiences we offer throughout the district:  The Exit Interview.  In this end-of-eighth-grade activity, students share English and Social Science portfolios with community volunteers/evaluators who provide feedback and guidance. Each and every year our volunteers are completely blown away by what students present!
Culver Cafe To Debut New Menu Items Next Fall
After a year of menu development and multiple student taste tests, the Culver Cafe (CCUSD's Food Services Department) is excited to debut new and healthier/tastier menu options for next year.  These additional food choices will give students more options during breakfast and lunch as we continue to develop our menu with food partners throughout Culver City.  Free And Reduced meal prices will remain unchanged next year, and breakfast and lunch will increase by a quarter (50 cents for secondary lunch).
Employee Recognitions Celebrate Legacies
It's no secret that in organizations with long and rich histories like ours, we stand on the shoulders of those who served before us and further their values, excellence, and ideals in everything we do for students.  This Appreciation Season is no different --- thanks to those who have served 1, 5, 10, 20, and 30+ years in Culver City, we are able see our work more clearly, collaborate more closely, and continue to exceed all expectations!
CCMS Teachers & Principal Learn To Skate
This year's top Walk N' Rollers at Culver City Middle School were treated to a fantastic experience this past week:   Skateboard Lessons For Their Teachers & Principal.  It turns out, Ms. Vielman and Ms. Villafranca may have had some lessons before, not to mention Dr. Arnold and Mr. Ronchetti who make some cameos in the video above :)
The Pride Of Sharing One's Work
These Science Fair projects at La Ballona are the pride and joy of many a second grader.  But that's not all.  For students, showing off their work is about more than showcasing what they've learned... it's about highlighting the time, effort, perseverance and grit that goes into high-stakes performances like projects and tests.  As parents, teachers, and mentors, acknowledging our students' non-cognitive assets can really go a long way.
Updated LCAP Infographic For All
As Culver City Unified looks to finalize its Local Control Accountability Plan this June, the Infographic featured above is intended to be user-friendly in explaining how the district intends to fund and support English Learners, Redesignated English Learners, Foster Youth, and students of Low Income.  Once finalized, all LCAP resources will be made available on the district's LCAP Tab as part of the CCUSD website.

'Tis The Season (To Teach Outside)
Late Spring / Early Summer...  There's nothing like it!  Teachers across Culver City Unified use weather like the kind we're having lately to take students outside for a change in learning atmosphere, some fresh air, and maybe even a little stretching, exercise, or mindfulness.  After all, this is Southern California.  And it's absolutely gorgeous outside!
