THIS WEEK'S NEWS FROM MR. U & THE FMS HSA
MAY 29, 2017
FROM THE CO-PRESIDENTS

Greetings Frelinghuysen Community,

We hope you all enjoyed the Memorial Day Weekend and are ready for the home stretch of the school year. This Friday, June 2nd directly after school, we are excited to kick off the first ever FMS HSA Color Run.

If you missed the pre-registration deadline, you can still register the day of the run, directly after school.  Please bring in the $30 run entry fee, checks made payable to FMS HSA.  See details below.  It will be a great end of year event and hope to get as many students involved as possible!  Stay tuned, more details to come.  Have a great week.

FMS  HSA COLOR RUN IS THIS FRIDAY!

Walk-ins are welcome! This Friday, June 2nd, is our first FMS Color Run. If your child has not registered, they can still participate by registering after school on June 2, with a $30 donation (cash or check made out to FMS HSA).

Our hope is to see everyone at the Color-Run having fun!

We also need volunteers to help make this a fun event for our students. If you can help from 2 pm – 4pm please e-mail Katie Skilton

Support the FMS HSA and bring the school year to a colorful end!

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR NEXT YEAR

As this school year winds to a close, we are looking forward to 2017-18 to fill a few of our open committee positions. Our volunteer parents are the backbone of the HSA; we couldn’t do this without you!

Please take some time to review the list below, to see if you are able to help out in any way next year. Questions or clarifications can be sent to Tanya Seaward at kuelkerfamily5@gmail.com. Thank you!

6th Grade Social

We are looking for 2 -3 volunteers to organize 2 socials for our 6th grade students. Responsibilities include finding a fun theme, booking a DJ, sending out the Signup Genius for snack and volunteer donations, and overseeing the event. The 6th grade students love the socials!

Landscaping

We are looking for a committee chair for this position, as well as 1 or 2 more volunteers with a green thumb! Main duties include seasonally changing the planters in the front, maintaining the plants and mulched area in the front of the school, and watering over the summer.

Ink Cartridge Recycling

This position involves coordinating with our recycling vendor a couple of times a year, advertising in the weekly bulletins and collecting the check!

MORRISTOWN BOYS BASKETBALL SUMMER CAMP

3rd grade through 9th grade boys, register now for the Morristown Boys Basketball Summer Camp.

Watch the summer camp video and register for camps and clinics online at  www.morristownbasketball.com.

ANTI-IDLING INFORMATION

Did you know?...

  • Idling your vehicle for more than 3 minutes is against the law in New Jersey
  • Exhaust emissions worsen asthma, bronchitis and existing allergies
  • Children breathe up to 50% more air per pound of body weight than adults, making them more susceptible to both acute and chronic respiratory problems like asthma
  • Vehicles that idle 10 minutes per day waste more than 29 gallons of fuel a year
  • An idling vehicle emits 20 times more pollution than a vehicle traveling more than 30 miles per hour

Please...turn off your engine when you are waiting for your children. Their lungs will thank you!

FMS IS RECYCLING

Recycle your old cell phones and ink/laser cartridges from home or work. There is a collection box in the main office all year long and FMS-HSA will receive cash, which will go towards HSA sponsored programs for our kids.
