Call for Nominees: 2018 David Lawrence Jr. Champion for Children Award
Know someone in the community who has dedicated their life to the betterment of our children? The David Lawrence Jr. Champion for Children Award is given to an individual in recognition of a lifetime of notable achievements to children in Miami-Dade County. By formally recognizing those who have dedicated considerable time, knowledge, expertise and resources on behalf of children that have resulted in real change and lasting impact, The Trust hopes to motivate others to also work toward improving the lives of our children and families. Grant Opportunity: Parenting Programs
The Children’s Trust will release a competitive solicitation for a new five-year funding cycle for parenting programs within the next week! Funding for parenting programs will be available for:

  • Group parenting and advocacy programs
  • Individual and home visitation programs

Grant Opportunity: Youth Development Services (Grades K-12)
The Children’s Trust has released a competitive solicitation for a new five-year funding cycle for youth development services. Funding is available for:

  • Kindergarten through fifth grade – after-school and summer camp programs (YAS)
  • Sixth through 12th grade – youth enrichment and supports for after-school and summer camp services (YEN)

Attention Quality Counts Programs: We Need to Hear from You!
As part of the ongoing implementation evaluation of Quality Counts, you should have received an online survey via email directly from the external evaluators at the University of Miami in December. If you have not yet completed the survey or received the email, please click here to complete the survey . The survey asks about your use of and engagement with the various Quality Counts supports, your opinion of their value and your perception of their effectiveness. Collected information will be used to inform continuous improvement of Quality Counts. We ask that you respond to the survey quickly and answer all questions completely and candidly. All your responses will remain confidential and only a summary of the results will be included in a report. The deadline for the survey has been extended until January 12, 2018 . Once you complete the survey, you will receive a $10 gift card to show our appreciation for participating. Questions? Workshop: Social-Emotional Learning
Triumph Steps announces a "lunch and learn" designed to teach providers how to meet requirements for social-emotional learning. Several dates available: January 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26; 12:15-1:15 p.m. This workshop is FREE for Trust-funded providers; all others, $25. First Aid Training: Youth Mental Health
Youth Mental Health First Aid Training (YMHFA) is an 8-hour course that teaches any adult how to help an adolescent who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify, understand and respond to the signs and symptoms of addiction and mental illness. FREE Leadership Training!
Catalyst Miami is recruiting participants for the next cohort of its Community Leadership on Environment, Advocacy and Resilience (CLEAR) program. Available Positions at the Institute For Child and Family Health *

  • Case Manager - Behavioral Health Specialty Network (BNET) To provide community-based targeted case management services to assigned clients experiencing mental health or substance use disorders, as well as medical issues. These services include, but are not limited to, assessing clients’ needs for social, educational, nutritional, medical and other support services. Other responsibilities include advocacy and linkage to such services, as well as monitoring the provision of all wraparound services. All case management services must be provided in accordance with funding contract requirements and ICFH policies and procedures, as well as all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Community Action Team (CAT) Children Mentor To assist clients with educational, vocational and life skills development, and help families enhance their support network. Responsibilities include scheduling and implementing educational skill development sessions, which include tutoring and educational advocacy; vocational skills development sessions, which include résumé development, employment coordination and vocational program knowledge dissemination; life skills development sessions, which include facilitating an Active Parenting curriculum and discussing individual needs of client and/or parents; and offering guidance and support to clients. High-quality documentation of all services provided within given deadlines and maintaining consistent communication with assigned clients and families a must, as is working closely and communicating consistently with team members in order to guide any additional client mentoring needs.
  • Developmental Specialist II To support developmental specialists I when conducting parenting classes and parent-child interaction groups. Other responsibilities include purchasing and maintaining program materials, and obtaining donations from community partners.
  • Hourly Direct Therapists - Part-Time & Full-Time To conduct intakes and implement therapeutic treatment plans for severely emotionally disturbed (SED) children/adolescents; if unlicensed, all work will be performed under the oversight of a qualified supervisor. Responsibilities include conducting individual, family and group therapy sessions; participating in monthly case staffing meetings; and a full range of clinical duties.
  • Functional Family Therapy (FFT) Grant Clinician To be responsible for implementing FFT interventions for children/adolescents and their families under the supervision of a supervisor as required by the needs of the grant(s). Also responsible for completing documentation within given deadlines and in accordance with funders, COA standards, and agency policies and procedures, as well as in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Functional Family Therapy (FFT) Program Supervisor To be responsible for providing clinical supervision and documentation review, to ensure that provided services are family-centered, focused on increasing youth’s ability to successfully cope with life challenges, and build resiliency using fidelity to the Functional Family Therapy (FFT) model. In addition, the FFT supervisor must ensure that services are provided in a timely manner, are of high quality, consistent with eligibility criteria, and in accordance with the contract/funder, COA standards, agency policies and procedures, and are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • SNAP/Homestead Case Manager To implement the SNAP evidence-based model of intervention for children and their parents under the supervision of a supervisor as required by the needs of the grant(s). Also responsible for completing documentation within given deadlines and in accordance with funders, COA standards, and agency policies and procedures, as well as in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Stop Now and Plan (SNAP) Supervisor To be responsible for providing clinical supervision and documentation review to ensure that services provided by the SNAP therapists and case managers are delivered in a timely manner, are of high quality, and are consistent with eligibility criteria using fidelity to the Stop Now And Plan (SNAP) model. In addition, the SNAP supervisor must ensure documentation completed by SNAP therapists and case managers is submitted within given deadlines and in accordance with the contract/funder, COA standards, and agency policies and procedures, as well as in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Head Start Teacher Assistant To support the implementation of a cognitively oriented curriculum and total management of activities for children ages 3-5; indoor/outdoor activities aimed at promoting physical health; approaches to learning; and the social, emotional, cognitive, intellectual, motor and physical development of the children. Minimum high school diploma, National CDA (Preschool) and DCF 45-hour training required.
  • Nutrition Coordinator To ensure its sites are in proper compliance with regulatory statutes for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Childcare Food Program (CCFP) and Head Start Nutrition Services, as well as administer CCFP for the agency. Works closely with nutrition consultant to ensure that children identified with health-related nutrition problems receive appropriate therapeutic meals. Minimum high school diploma, Serving Safe Food certification and two years' experience in a food service operation.

  • After-School Counselors To be responsible for the daily supervision of a group of up to 15 children, including the planning and implementation of activities. Counselors must enjoy working with children ages 5-12, be able to work effectively in multiple settings, communicate with parents/guardians in a professional and courteous manner, and maintain daily attendance records. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent; ability to communicate effectively, motivate students and lead a group; ability to respond to safety and emergency situations; and ability to assist children with homework in the English language. Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish) a plus. As a condition of employment, all applicants are required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level 2 fingerprinting background screening.
