SKOL Vikings! UNBELIEVABLE!

A Note From Pastor Linda

I believe; help my unbelief! ~Mark9.24

Dear Friends,

They are calling it the Minnesota Miracle; the final touchdown pass from Case Keenum to Stefon Diggs. SKOL VIKINGS!! A good Lutheran question: What does this mean?

"Skol Vikings!" is the fight song of the Minnesota Vikings. It was introduced around the time the team was founded in 1961. The words and music are attributed to James "Red" McLeod, a composer from Edina, MN:
Skol Vikings, let's win this game.
Skol Vikings, honor your name,
Go get that first down,
Then get a touchdown,
Rock'em... Sock'em
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Go Vikings, run up the score,
You'll hear us yell for more...
V-I-K-I-N-G-S
Skol Vikings, let's go!

It is the team's Viking war chant and comes from the Swedish, Danish and Norwegian word "Skål." A Skål was a bowl that was often filled with beer and shared among friends so the word became a way of saying "Cheers!" Since their move to the US Bank Stadium, a "Skol Chant" has been introduced as part of the fans tradition. It was inspired by Iceland's national soccer team.  Viking fans now raise their hands and clap twice to the beat of a drum before yelling "Skol!"

Might there be a comparison between the Vikings road to the playoffs and our life of following Jesus? Maybe! "Come and See" on Sunday; wear your purple and gold; and be surprised! SKOL Hosanna!

What are the chances that the Vikings will be in Super Bowl LII? In the words of the father whose boy was filled with unclean spirits: "I believe; help my unbelief!"

SKOL!!

Come learn about sex trafficking including indicators, resources available for victims and who is responsible for all harm done to children and individuals.
