Business Issues Meeting

As we begin the new year, our first meeting will provide an update on critical issues that concern our local business community. We will be reviewing the major projects in town, the fate of the 18 small businesses at 3483 and 3491Golden Gate Way, the potential site for a new city office on Oak Hill and State Bill, SB 827, which removes single-family home and parking requirements for projects within a half-mile of transit hubs like BART. And of course we’ll talk about parking, because we can. Drop in for a cup of coffee and bring your questions.

Performing Academy unveils the NEW FIREHOUSE on Oak Park Blvd

Lamorinda Theatre Academy (LTA), answering strong demand for additional classes and performance space to keep up with increasing student interest, announced plans to expand in Pleasant Hill by opening its third academy to be located at 1948 Oak Park Blvd, Pleasant Hill. The space, referred to in the community as the "Fire House," was previously owned and operated by Diablo Theatre Company (DTC), formerly known as Diablo Light Opera Company (DLOC). Lamorinda Theatre Academy also announced it is changing its name to Performing Academy. You are invited to join them for a ribbon cutting at their new location. Lamorinda Arts Council “Poet Laureate Application Deadline Extended to Jan. 31, 2018”
The Poet Laureate Program (PLP) marks the first opportunity of its kind for our local literary community. Thanks to endorsements from the City Councils of Orinda and Lafayette, the Lamorinda Arts Council PLP will manage and support the Poet Laureate who will serve both Lafayette and Orinda. Poets interested in this position are invited to apply online at https://lamorindaarts.org/poet-laureate-application. The deadline to receive online applications is January 31, 2018 at 5pm.

Winter Photography Contest
Now through February 14, 2018
Teens – take your best shot! Use winter as your theme and take whatever photo evokes that theme. Three winners will be selected. Lafayette visual arts teachers from the local middle schools and high schools will help judge. Winners' photos will be displayed in the Teen Center for two weeks. Photos can either be e-mailed to [email protected] with the Subject Line “Winter Photography Contest” or brought in to the Lafayette Library (max size of 8.5″x11″). Lafayette Historical Society Speaker Series: Getting to School in the 20th Century
