FEATURED EVENT: Six Schools to Launch Elementary Track Programs
Thanks to a generous grant of $15,000 from Nike through the Oregon Community Foundation, and in-kind support from Providence Health Systems, HSD will be launching an Elementary Track program at six schools this spring. The programs will allow students in grades 4-6 an opportunity to train for the 100M, 400M, 1200M, turbo javelin and long jump events in preparation for a full-scale meet at Hare Field at the end of May.

District's Recess Coach Aims to Make the Most of Play
UPCOMING
EVENTS

Teaching kids how to play seems like a pretty awesome job description and, while that's certainly oversimplified, HSD's Recess Coach Jeremy Carter has the pleasure of doing just that. This year, 21 elementary schools pooled their resources to hire Jeremy, who spends his time working with staff and students on how to get the most out of recess time.

Plastic film is being collected at each school and support building through April 15. The school collecting the most plastic film will be announced on Earth Day - April 22 - and will win a TREX bench!
