The Reverend John Kimball, a retired clergy member, passed away on Saturday, January 13th. The funeral service will be on Saturday, January 20 at noon at St. James' Church in Collegeville with the Rev. Dr. Mike Sowards as the Celebrant and the Rev. Bud Holland will be preaching. The family can be greeted at 11:00 a.m. The service will be followed immediately by the internment across the street in St. James' cemetery and a luncheon at 1:00 p.m. in their parish hall.
Father Kimball was born in New London, Connecticut in 1929. In 1951, he received a BA at Daniel Baker College and a Bachelor of Theology at Berkeley Divinity School in 1954. He was ordained a deacon on June 2, 1954 and a priest on June 15, 1955 by Bishop Walter H. Gray.
He was a vicar at St. Mary's, Warwick from 1977-1980; an associate at St. James' Church in Collegeville from 1988-1989; a priest-in-charge at St. John the Evangelist from 1989-1996; and an interim rector at Emmanuel Church in Philadelphia from 1997-1999. He retired in 1996.
He is survived by his wife Barbara and two children.
