A Heartfelt Thank You!
The annual FOJ Spring Event took place Friday night, April 28th, at the beautiful Adler Planetarium on Chicago's lakefront. It was a lovely evening of friends, food and funds. The next newsletter will feature a detailed wrap up of the event including the results from the live and online auctions. The event and auctions were tremendously successful thanks to the generosity, with both time and money. of the Jones community.

Request from the Juniors for Prom
|
Hey Class of 2018 Parents!
Junior Prom is just around the corner and the planning committee of the Student Government needs your help. We are working with a tight budget and unfortunately can't afford to hire a caterer for the event. The planning committee would greatly appreciate any donations of water bottles, chips, and store bought cookies, as well as paper plates and napkins. We would hate to leave any students hungry or thirsty, especially considering all the dancing they'll be doing!
The dance is next Friday, May 19, from 7-10pm in Room 1520. If your junior hasn't had a chance to buy a ticket yet, we still have tickets ($35 each) and we are selling them every day during the three lunch periods. All the profits from the dance go toward funding Senior Prom, so we would really like to have as many students in attendance as possible (and hopefully sell out). It's going to be a really fun night and we hope to see everyone there!
If you would like to make a donation, please drop it off at the front desk of the office and let them know it is for the Junior Student Government. Also, please write your name and address down on the donation so we can send you a thank you note!
Thank You!

Fame the musical
|
Fame - JCP's largest musical production
Fame, the Jones All-School musical, played to sold out houses in late March. Sponsored, in part, by a grant from the FOJ, the Performing Arts department was proud to feature 70 Jones dancers, singers, actors and musicians - the largest Jones musical to date!
The musical chronicled the lives of teenagers as they struggled through four years at The High School of the Performing Arts. Based on the 1980 hit blockbuster film, it was a powerful story of laughter, love, triumph and defeat, told with incredible dancing to the Academy Award-winning score.

The JCP girls varsity soccer team went into the City Finals with a 16-2-2 record and a +44 goal differential. After a heartbreaking loss to Lane Tech this past Thursday evening, the Eagles finished the season 2nd in the league and runners up in the playoffs -- something that no team has ever done after being promoted. Now, the ladies look forward to the State Playoffs where they plan to assert their dominance on teams from outside the city.

Annual Fund
|
Please make your gift to the FOJ Annual Fund for the 2106/17 school year by June 30, 2017
Your donations are used to bridge the gap between what CPS allocates to run the school, and what it really takes. This year alone FOJ has funded a myriad of grants for clubs, classrooms, teams and campus productions. These are the opportunities for our students that set Jones apart. FOJ funds are also used to help maintain staffing and programming during these challenging times facing the district.
Make your contribution go even farther. Nearly 20% of funds raised this year are attributable to
matching donations from corporations and other businesses. Be sure to check if your employer will match your 2016/17 contribution.
Thank
you for helping to make JCP an exceptional school.
