Paying it Forward

Social Studies Department to Present Plaque, $2,000 Donation at Veterans Day Ceremony
Martin to Dedicate Plaque to Marquette Veterans, Deliver Check to Folds of Honor at 1 pm on Monday
A fundraiser that began with modest expectations captivated the Marquette campus, and, as a result, Folds of Honor will collect $2,000 this Veterans Day.

Social studies teacher and head baseball coach Casey Martin created a patriotic-themed cap that will double as the team's official 2020 game hat.  Originally, he hoped to sell 50. Once the Marquette community jumped on board, he adjusted the goal to 100.

B y the time all orders were placed, Martin sold 150 hats with proceeds going to Folds of Honor, a charitable organization that funds educational scholarships for family members of injured or fallen service-members.

Combined with other donations, Martin and fellow social studies instructor Amanda Boyd will present Folds of Honor with a check for $2,000 during a 1 pm ceremony on Monday, November 11th inside the Scholl Center Finance Lab.

The ceremony, which is expected to run from 1:00 pm until 1:20 pm, will also include the dedication of a plaque to recognize all Marquette veterans.
