LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
Career fair and internships! The students in LARC 380 are working on their resumes and portfolios in preparation for the career fair. Many spent their Christmas break reviewing their past studio work, designing layouts, redoing some of their earlier work and developing new work. The program has a required internship between the third and fourth years providing a link between academic learning and professional employment. Some of the best experiences come from internships because students get to do a bit of everything! More-
COMMUNITY AND REGIONAL PLANNING
In the current spring semester Dr. Daniel Piatkowski is offering a new Selected Topics elective course, CRPL 495/895 “The Sustainable Campus”. With 18 undergraduate and graduate students from four different majors enrolled, the class is studying specific opportunities and challenges for sustainability initiatives on university campuses, with particular attention to the University of Nebraska‒Lincoln. The course is emphasizing how sustainability can be integrated into the broad scope of campus planning. More-

STUDENT & FACULTY COMPETITIONS

This scholarship is designed for minority students whose imagination and design thinking will influence the future of the built environment and the architecture profession. Eligible students must be a US citizen and have a minimum 3.0 GPA; other restrictions apply.

Submission Deadline: Jan. 17

Named in honor of retired MOA ARCHITECTURE founding principal Kiyoshi Murata, this award was established to recognize and reward entering fifth year, or graduate level students who will be returning to school in Fall 2018. This Scholarship + Internship is specifically intended for students who demonstrate their passion for architecture, high academic achievement and design ability.


The APA has a scholarship called the Tom Cory Scholarship for students pursuing a career in Architecture. Tom Cory was a founding member of the APA and in his honor the APA developed this scholarship.

Submission Deadline: March 31


One student will be selected to receive $10,000 to be applied toward university tuition and fees, and a paid internship with ZGF.

The AZ Awards is an international competition recognizing excellence in design. Entries are juried by a multidisciplinary panel of experts.

INTERNSHIPS, JOBS & MORE


Energy Sciences Research – Summer Internship for Undergraduates.  



Walt Disney World internships provide students with experience in Landscape, Irrigation and Area Development (AD) design, specifically. AD includes themed paving, railings and site furnishings. Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its application to the outdoor environment is important.

Urbanism, Infrastructure & Ecology at San Francisco’s Northern Waterfront
 
Aquatic Park sits at the confluence of geography and history, the connection of local and federal lands, and the coming together of commercial and civic uses—and it is challenged by aging infrastructure and the myriad demands of a dynamic city. SWA’s 2018 summer student program ventures into this complex territory to explore how design can create coherence and renew character for the future of this unique urban beach.

Fallingwater, the architectural masterwork designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, seeks applications for its Fallingwater Landscape Internship Program. This full-time summer residency intern will interact with
Fallingwater’s horticulture specialist, maintenance department, visiting consultants, and vendors while working in and around the house museum environment.
