Church-Wide Events/Activities
Water baptism is a public proclamation of our desire to follow Jesus. Our next water baptism service will take place on Sunday, July 16, at 8 p.m. at the New Holland Pool. If you are at least 10 years old and desire to be water baptized, please sign up at the Hubs, use the bulletin flap or Petra App, or register online. Classes in preparation for water baptism will be held on July 9 at 9 a.m. OR July 16 at 11 a.m.
Communion - We will be sharing communion together during the morning services this Sunday. All volunteers serving outside the Sanctuary this Sunday are welcome to take communion by going to the Staff Work Room in the SLC.

VBS 2017 - There will be no regularly-scheduled evening activities this Monday through Friday in light of our "Maker Fun Factory" Vacation Bible School, except for a few meetings in the Office Wing. Read more about this year's VBS under Kingdom Kids!

Young Marrieds Cookout

Young Marrieds are invited to a cookout this Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.at Jordon and Krista Smucker's house at 2725 Church Road, Bird-in-Hand. Burgers, hot dogs, paper products, and beverages will be provided. Bring a hot or cold dish to share.

Regional Events
Region O (Ephrata, Akron, Lititz) is hosting a picnic at Jerry and Carol Musser’s farm at 231 Durlach Road, Ephrata, this Sunday at 5 p.m. Hot dogs, s'mores, beverages, and a campfire will be provided. Please bring a large dish to share, along with lawn chairs. There will be lots of activities for all ages! For questions, contact Marilyn Charles at 717-380-2828. 
Senior Adult Ministry

Mini Golf Activity - If you're 62+ and would enjoy some fun and fellowship over a game of miniature golf, please join us at Water's Edge Mini Golf in Bird-in-Hand on Saturday, June 24, at 5:30 p.m. The golf course is adjacent to Bird-in-Hand Restaurant and Motor Inn. Afterward we will go to Lapp Valley Farm on Mentzer Road, New Holland, for ice cream. There's no need to register; just come! Both the golf game and the ice cream are self-pay.
Petra Men

Men's Breakfast - Guys, join us for great food and fellowship at Yoder's on Saturday, June 17, at 7 a.m. Dan Keefer, a professional therapist at Petra, will share from his own life’s journey on the topic of men and their reluctance at times to ask for help. He is calling his sharing “Could You Please Give Me a Push?” Dan will point us to the hope we have in our Heavenly Father along with the encouragement we can experience from one another.  
Hopewell Summer Camps
Register now for the 2017 Hopewell Network Summer Camps at Tel Hai! The Sr. High Camp (for youth who have completed grades 9-12) will be held from June 26-30. The Jr. High Camp (for youth who have completed grades 6-8) will be held from July 17-21. The Kids' Camp (for kids who have completed grades 2-5 and are at least 8 years old) will be held from August 14-18. Pick up a brochure and application from the Resource Center or visit the Hopewell Summer Camps website for additional information.

  • What to Expect, VBS - Catch the excitement of the large-group opening in the Sanctuary, followed by Bible Discovery, Kid-Vid Cinema, Imagination Station, and Game Makers. The preschool “Tinker Tots," ages 4 and 5, will enjoy their own rotations of Bible time, snacks and games, and crafts
  • VBS Registration - We would like to really focus on our community guests on our first night, helping them get registered and settled in. Here's how you can help: PLEASE register your own children and any guests you may be bringing with you by completing online registration by tomorrow noon. Or, register in the Atrium this Sunday. Thanks for your help in making our community feel comfortable as they join us for VBS.
  • VBS T-shirts for children may be purchased in the Atrium this Sunday and every night next week at VBS. The cost is $3 per shirt.

  • This year’s VBS offering will go toward the purchase of goats for the Urban Promise Ministry “Cornerstone” in Malawi, Africa. These goats will provide income for Cornerstone to purchase food for the students in their school and after-school programs. This is often the only meal these students receive each day.

  • Final Call for VBS Volunteers - We would love to have more leaders and helpers all week, along with substitutes. If you can help, please contact Angie Kline at angiek@petra.church or call her at 717-606-5767. If you can help with set-up this Sunday immediately after the 11 a.m. service or clean-up on Friday beginning at 8 p.m., please contact Pastor Kim at kimw@petra.church. There will be a fundraiser meal in the Café this Sunday; Kingdom Kids will cover the cost for set-up volunteers.

  • Family Meal, VBS - On Friday night, June 16, there will be a family meal at Petra from 5 to 6 p.m. Chick-fil-A is catering. You will be able to buy meal tickets from Monday through Thursday in the Atrium. A percentage of the proceeds will go toward the mission trip that Neal and Jenny Sensenig and family are taking to Africa this summer. We'll be eating the meal in the field, so be sure to bring chairs or a blanket.
Let’s Read! Open to ages Pre-K through Grade 8, registration continues this Sunday for the Petra Student Library’s Summer Reading Program. Stop by the table in the Student Library to sign up or to find out more.  Return your reading log sheet by August 13 to receive a $5 gift card and be entered in a Grand Prize Drawing!
Global Missions
Mission Prayer Focus -  Pray for Brad and Lori Ortenzi, Petra missionaries serving with ZOE International in Thailand, helping to combat human trafficking. Pray for God’s wisdom, anointing, and protection as they serve.

Lasagna Fundraiser Meal -  A lasagna fundraiser meal will be offered this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on behalf of the young adult team participating in The Maine Event from June 25 through July 1. Take outs will be available after the 9 a.m. service.

Concert Fundraiser - The Chuck Wagon Gang, a country gospel musical group, will be singing at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Road, Mount Joy, next Friday, June 16, at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 per person at the door. A freewill offering will be received to benefit the YWAM Montana base, where Petra missionaries Kenny and Stephanie Stoner are serving on staff.
Wedding Gowns for Haiti - If you are willing to donate your wedding gown or purchase one at a thrift shop for the Hopewell Network Churches in Haiti, please bring it to the West Hub by this Sunday or drop if off at the church office during business hours today or tomorrow.
Israel Study Tour
An Information Night about the "God's Faithfulness" study tour to Israel October 12-24, led by Dr. Theresa Newell of our church family, will take place this Wednesday at 7 p.m. This is for those already signed up for the tour; for those who want to join; and those who would like to hear more. Learn about Jesus in his Second Temple Period setting and how walking the land builds stronger disciples. Meet at the Newells' home at 61 (note corrected house number) Willow Circle, New Holland, phone 717-351-5460.
