The Advancing Age Friendly Edmonton and Seniors Centres Strategy Public Engagement sessions are underway! Visit the websites for details on times and locations near you. Everyone of every age is welcome to attend and provide input.

If you are unable to attend a drop in session, you can still provide input through the Age Friendly Edmonton Engagement Activity Sheet and the Seniors Centres Strategy Engagement Activity Sheet. You can also participate in the Advancing Age Friendly Edmonton online survey at this link or via the paper copy. This information is also available on the webpages mentioned above.

BOLAND SURVEY ON NONPROFIT COMPENSATION

For 20 years, the Boland Survey has provided the Canadian nonprofit sector with data on salary trends and predictions, benefits, and human resource practices needed to make informed compensation decisions. There is no cost to participate in the survey, and survey results are only made available to participating organizations. September 1 is the deadline to enter your organization's salary and benefit information.

The Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations is hosting a free webinar on June 15 at 11 a.m. MDT that will highlight changes to the survey for 2017 and provide tips to ensure accurate data entry.
WALK WITH ME 2018: CALL FOR SESSIONS

There are many exciting initiatives and projects underway in Canada that are shifting the culture of aging in significant and positive ways. The Walk with Me 2018 conference will bring together stakeholders to learn with and from each other about how to support changing the culture of aging in Canada.

Share your knowledge and experience about a culture change initiative, practical tools and strategies, or inspiring research that promotes quality of life for older adults. September 15, 2017 is the deadline for submissions.

Walk with Me will be held March 5-6, 2018 in Niagara Falls.

ELDER ABUSE PRESENTATION

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is recognized annually on June 15. Preventing and reducing elder abuse starts with knowledge. Older adults are likely to depend on others for help as health and mobility become issues. These caregivers may have access to homes and assets and may abuse their responsibilities. 

In this session presented by Catholic Social Services, you will learn more about how to recognize abuse, prevent it from happening to you and where to go for assistance should you or a peer need help.
