Strong Roots, Strong Future, Georgia Grown
Amberlee, a student at Apalachee High School is the 1st place winner in the GA School Nutrition Association Action Council Art Contest. Her winning entry, was selected from entries coming all over the state in the 9-12 division. Amberlee also received a $50 Visa Gift Card. See artwork.
Growing Bolder in Barrow
The Barrow Farm to School Booster Club (Growing Bolder in Barrow) was established by Barrow County School Nutrition and the Barrow County Extension. The club is a group of volunteers from the community and school system providing support to our school gardens, classrooms, and cafeterias.
The Nutrition Department held a contest for students to design artwork for our booster club. Each school was to select their best design and submit it to the Nutrition Department. The artwork submitted was then voted on by staff. The winner for the best artwork is Gracelyn from Statham Elementary.

Scholarship Winners
Laura Elizabeth Oting, Special Education teacher at Russell Middle and Russell W. Spicer, Math teacher at Winder-Barrow are both recipients of the 2017 Barrow County Retired Educators' Association scholarship.
