Summer has finally arrived - forecasts say it will be 90 degrees the next few days. My plants are responding splendidly! This is what we have been waiting for, so no complaining about the heat (that includes me!).

We have a public policy meeting coming up on June 22nd and I would love to see all of you at the meeting. It will be held at our usual Golden Valley location and will be a joint meeting with SPSWA. It is always enlightening to hear what goes on in St. Paul and Washington D.C. and how it will affect our seniors. Personally, I've been glued to my TV watching the congressional investigations - it is enough to make a sane person crazy and I don't suggest this activity if you want to keep your blood pressure within the normal range!

The new Board of Directors met for the first time on June 1, 2017. It was an excellent meeting and we will start looking at the next year when we have our retreat on July 21, 2017. We will be reviewing the MASWA bylaws, job descriptions, and setting goals for the next year. We can always use great ideas from our membership, so do not hesitate to seek out board members and share your ideas for future MASWA activities. If you feel strongly about being a part of the board, please let us know. We are always looking for board members who really want to serve. If you're new to the organization, please come and introduce yourself to the members of the board and to other members - we all want to welcome you to this great organization.

You will start hearing about the Fall Aging Conference now, as we head into summer. It is scheduled for October 26, 2017 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center, and is going to be really exciting. Vicki Wilcox, MASWA Co-chair, has been working hard, along with her team, to get great speakers for the conference. So please, get October 26th on your calendar for another great Fall Aging Conference.

I want to wish all of you a very safe and fun summer. Don't forget, we do have membership meetings throughout the summer months. I'll see you there!

MembershipRenewalSpring Luncheon Speaker: By Popular Demand!

Dr. Carter is a rare physician who believes love has a place in medicine and health care. By recalling his own very personal stories, Dr. Carter showed us how story sharing can become the basis for building the important and sacred space between care giver and care receiver. His thoughtful and emotion-filled presentation had us laughing, crying and thinking about the people who have touched our lives and how important it is to open the door for the most meaningful stories to be shared! A great message well delivered!
