Tell Families About the Free Summer Food Service Program for Kids
The Summer Food Service Program is an easy and convenient way for any child to receive a healthy meal during the summer, regardless of income and with no registration required. Adults may also purchase a meal for only $3. A list of participating schools can be found here; families can find a participating school in their neighborhoods where everyone will have access to meals. As you prepare for summer break, please share this valuable information with families in your network.

Check Your Pay Stub for Changes
Effective May 31, the Earnings section on your pay stub will reflect a change in the name of Flex Dollars to Benefit Credits for eligible employees. The line description that previously said "FLEX$$" will now appear as "BENEFIT$."
Benefit Credits (formerly Flex Dollars) are the DPS contribution to offset the cost of the medical, dental and vision insurance you choose. The contribution amount varies by employee association and the hours you are scheduled to work

Double Discount Alert: Tickets for the Rockies and 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time'
Show the
Colorado Rockies -- and Team DPS -- a little love at
6:40 p.m. tomorrow, May 26, at Coors Field. Discounted tickets -- $12-$24 for Upper Level and Lower Level seats -- are available for Friday's game with the

You can also check out the Denver Center for the Performing Arts' (DCPA) National Theatre production of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," the 2015 Tony award-winning Best Play. To show its appreciation for our educators, the DCPA reserved a limited number of tickets for the June 15 matinee (2 p.m.) at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
Tickets are $35 and include your admission, a drink ticket, a special gift (to be picked up on June 15 before the show) and a $4 donation to the DPS Foundation. Review Purchasing Policy Changes and Attend a Workshop to Learn More
If you facilitate purchases for your school or department, this news is for you. The Board of Education has approved a policy change on purchasing guidelines effective July 1. Check out a comparison of changes
here or in the summary below:
- For purchases under $3,499: Pcard is the preferred method of payment in accordance with district policy.
- For purchases $3,500-$149,999: Two price quotes must be obtained for all purchases including professional services that are not under current contract.
- For purchases over $150,000: Formal competition (bid or RFP) is required, including contract modifications.

Teacher, DCIS at Montbello Middle School
"In addition to teaching at DCIS at Montbello, Priscilla Shaw Rahn has served as chair of the Asian Education Advisory Council for at least a decade. She orchestrates an annual awards ceremony each year to recognize and celebrate Asian students, teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators. The money raised at this event helps fund college scholarships for students. This is a true example of living our Shared Core Value of Equity.
In addition to this, Priscilla collaborates with the Asian community to provide an annual field trip, and hosted the first meet and greet for Asian teachers across the district. She is a great part of DPS!"
