Colorado PGA Looking to Fill Additional Intern Role

With the growth of the JGAC and Section programs, the Colorado PGA is looking to fill an internship position lasting through the end of the summer. The position will work with JGAC programs, as well as a number of section programs. The internship will be a paid position and will be eligible for college credit. If you know of an interested young adult, please have them contact Holly Champion, Junior Golf Director, at  [email protected].

Colorado PGA Women's Championship Set for August 22-23 at the Club at Ravenna

The Colorado PGA's Women's Championship will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 22-23, at The Golf Club at Ravenna. The championship is open to all female PGA and LPGA members in good standing whom reside or work within the Colorado Section boundaries.

Registration Deadline Extended for The Ridge at Castle Pines North Pro Am

The registration deadline for the Ridge at Castle Pines North Pro Am has been extended until 5:00pm today, Thursday, June 8, 2017.  The morning start is full and there are more than a dozen spots available in the afternoon start.

Gallagher Wins CoBank Senior Open; Cole Finishes as Low Colorado PGA Member

Jeff Gallagher, a former Tour player who now teachers out of  Henderson, Nev., won the 2017 CoBank Colorado Senior Open on Friday, June 2, 2017. Gallagher fired a three-day total of 11-under-par 205. Rick Cole, PGA Head Professional at Eaton Country Club was the low Colorado PGA finisher after posting a sixth place finish at four-under-par 212.

Deadline in Round 1 Match Play  Championships is Monday

The deadline to complete the first round of the season-long Match Play Championships is Monday, June 12. This includes the Senior, Assistant and Four-Ball Match Play Championships.

Players are responsible for the completion of their matches. If a match is not completed prior to the scheduled deadline, the match is officially scheduled to be held on the deadline date at The Golf Club at Bear Dance. 

The winner of each match is responsible for reporting the results of their match to Justin Limon, Tournament Director, at [email protected].
Tongwarin Wins Ptarmigan Country Club Pro Am

Visanu Tongwarin, PGA Assistant Professional at Legacy Ridge GC in Westminster, CO, fired a two-under-par 70 to win the Ptarmigan Country Club Pro Am on Monday. Scott Sommers, PGA Assistant Professional at Saddleback Golf Course, and Caine Fitzgerald, PGA Assistant Professional at Meadow Hills Golf Course, finished one shot back after posting one-under-par 71.

Section Championship Registration Now Available

Registration is now open for the 2017 Colorado PGA Professional Championship set for the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club, September 11-13, 2017.  The event is open to call Class A Members as well as members classified as Life Member Active and Life Member Master Professional Active.
 
The entry fee for the event is $250.  The deadline to register is August 23, 2017.

Registration for the Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship is now open! The event, open to all PGA Members 50 years of age and older as of Sept. 28, 2017, will be held at Valley Country Club, Aug. 14-15, 2017.

National Car Rental Assistant Professional Championship Registration Open

Registration is now open for the National Car Rental Colorado Assistant Professional Championship set for July 31-Aug. 1 at Highlands Ranch Golf Club.
      
The event is open to Class A-8 Members and all Apprentices who must be eligibly employed and in good standing at the time of entry and the entry deadline date of July 12, 2017.

The Ridge at Castle Pines North Hosts First DCP Qualifier of the Year

119 golfers competed in the first Drive, Chip and Putt Qualifier of the year at The Ridge at Castle Pines North on Monday, June 5, 2017.  In all, 24 juniors advanced to the Sub-Regional Qualifier at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve.

A Coloradan -- boy or girl -- has never won the title at the prestigious AJGA Hale Irwin Colorado Junior by Transamerica, but if Tuesday's first round is any indication, the in-staters will be giving it a run this year in the third annual event.

So far, Colorado's top junior golfers apparently are really enjoying the home cooking this week.

With two rounds complete and just one left at the AJGA Hale Irwin Colorado Junior by Transamerica -- arguably the top junior tournament that will be held in Colorado in 2017 -- in-state players stand first and second on both the boys and girls leaderboards at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve in Westminster.

Back for More -- Vlosich, Rohrbaugh seek return trips to U.S. Senior Open as Meadows hosts qualifier

A couple of Coloradans who have qualified for multiple U.S. Senior Opens in the last decade, Ron Vlosich of Lakewood and Doug Rohrbaugh of Carbondale, are scheduled to play in Thursday's Senior Open qualifying tournament at Meadows Golf Club in Littleton.

Family Affair --  Lenny, Nick Nosewicz team up to win CGA Parent/Child title by 7 strokes

Lenny and Nick Nosewicz of Meadow Hills Golf Course were competing in the CGA Parent/Child Championship for the first time, so winning the title together on Sunday at Frost Creek in Eagle was extra special.

PGA to Conduct PGA Championship, KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club

The PGA of America announced that it will host two different major championships at Southern Hills Country Club, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Southern Hills will host the 2021 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship-the most historic and prestigious major championship in senior golf-and also will be the venue for a PGA Championship no later than 2030.

Topgolf, USGA and Fox Sports team up for Ultimate U.S. Open Watch Party

Can't make it to Erin Hills for next week's U.S. Open? No problem. The USGA and Fox Sports have teamed up with Topgolf to provide a live viewing experience on the Thursday of the U.S. Open at all 30 Topgolf venues in the United States.  The Ultimate U.S. Open Watch Party begins at 11 a.m. Eastern at each Topgolf location. Those attending will be able to play Topgolf while watching first-round coverage of the U.S. Open from their hitting bay until 6 p.m. ET.
