Annual Budget Drive
Together We Thrive!
We are grateful! This past weekend, the very visible part of the Annual Budget Drive closed with $636,122 pledged, and added to this is the match of $77,700 for increased pledges. The total raised is $713,822. We are close to our goal of $834,000. Pledges are still needed and it's not too late. For the year ahead, our community needs the support of every one of us. We can reach the goal if all of us pledge. We urge those who have not yet pledged to do so. Pledges can be made online, by returning the pledge card you may have received, or by contacting Al Gundlach in the church office at
[email protected] or 585-271-9070 x103. Thank you to all who have pledged and to those who served as Seekers and Stewards. We are all in this together!
Your Annual Budget Drive Committee: Paul Suwijn, John Solberg, Sue Ames, Cynthia Looney, Louise Paulsen and John Farrell.

UU's Reading Non-Fiction
Our book for June is Spain in Our Hearts: Americans in the  Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939, by Adam Hochschild.  It tells that many people of that  time thought "the fate of the world might be decided in a small rural country on the edge of Europe." Forty thousand people from other countries, including the United States, volunteered to join in the fight.  But could a "range of militias reporting to a crazy quilt of political parties and trade unions"  defeat a "disciplined army reporting to a central command?"  All are welcome to our discussion  of this book when we meet on Wednesday, June 14, 7:00-8:30pm. For q uestions, contact Audrey Perry at [email protected] or 585-244-4013.
Aging Gratefully and Change

Everyone's invited to a potluck lunch on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 11:30am (after the 10:00am service, and time to move chairs/tables) in the Sanctuary. We'll have plates and silverware. Please bring a dish to share. If you have a question, contact [email protected].
Environmental Climate Task Force Green Tip of the Week
From church member Wayne Holt: When paddling my kayak, I often see easy-to-reach garbage floating nearby. Often, in the past, I would just paddle on, thinking "it's not mine" and be sad that someone didn't care enough to think about their actions. Now I pick it up. Not all the garbage I see, because it can be overwhelming in certain areas, but some. Perhaps my little bit of tidying up will be noticed by someone else and they'll pick up some garbage. Or even better, someone will think "wow, I should be more careful with my garbage because others care." It's a little thing that makes me feel better and helps our Earth just a tiny bit. Won't you join me? Reduce, Reuse, Re-Purpose, Recycle and pick up a little trash .
Kahn's Corner
During the Great Depression, the young Louis Kahn, our building's architect, helped design what has been called an American kibbutz.  The Jersey Homesteads project resettled unemployed workers into Roosevelt, New Jersey, a new community, and arranged for them to work in cooperative farming and manufacturing.  The project is remembered today more as a social experiment than for its architecture.
