We have opened our Call for Papers for the 2017 Computation + Journalism Symposium, which will take place at Northwestern University's Evanston, Illinois campus on Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14, 2017. We invite papers that explore the interface between data and computer science and journalism, covering the entire process and practice of journalism in context, including:

  • Computation and reporting, analysis, and sensemaking
  • Computation and storytelling
  • Computation and publishing
  • Computation and distribution, including social media
  • Computation and audience engagement with news
More information on papers and submission guidelines can be found at the symposium website. Deadline for submission is August 1, 2017.

A reminder -- be sure to make your travel arrangements to join us. We do expect hotels to fill on this busy fall weekend, so attendees are advised to book soon.

Please feel free to share this with colleagues and your network contacts that would have an interest and investment in this event. And ask them to sign up for future communications about the conference.

If you know of a journalist or academic who has been doing great work at the intersection of technology and journalism - someone who'd make a great panelist or whom we should ask to present a paper, please submit nominations and suggestions.
