RAMADAN BEGINS THIS SATURDAY

Our long-awaited, blessed guest arrives this  Saturday, May 27th. The Majlis, staff and volunteers of Shura Council wish you a very blessed Ramadan.

For those who do not partake in fasting, but would like to be respectful of your Muslim friends beliefs, here are a few tips. If you ever wondered why is Ramadan important to Muslims, click here.

Shura Council welcomes it's newest members, Ar-Rahman Islamic Center and Life for Relief and Development. We encourage the community to visit these organization's websites to find out more about them.

Shura Council applauds the Islamic Institute of Orange County who will receive the "Faith in Action" award at OCCCO's 32nd Annual Colors of Justice Banquet on June 1st. For tickets, click here.

UMMA Community Clinic's Chief Development Officer, Adel Syed, was included in the 40 under 40 awardees for Los Angeles' change-makers under the age of 40 who are leading in advocacy, governance, philanthropy, and private industry. Shura Council congratulates Adel on this achievement. 

We encourage the community to support these member organizations by attending their Iftar fundraisers: Institute of Knowledge on May 27th, Islamic Relief on June 3rd, Islamic Society of Orange County on June 10th among others.

The Islamic Center of Southern California launches its new website, just in time for Ramadan.

The Muslim community in Manchester, UK, is among those who strongly condemn the deadly attack this week in their city. The Muslim Council of Briton issued this coalition response. The Shura Council mourns the innocent loss of life and asks the community to pray for the victims and their families. If you'd like to donate, there's an online campaign #MuslimsForManchester. The site lists the donations in GBP and will convert it to USD automatically.

Canada issues it's first Eid Stamp to reflect the diversity of Canada as it nears its 150th birthday.
