Head Zone Concussion Care

HeadZone Concussion Care recently celebrated the grand opening of its satellite office at 117 Sharon Road, in Mallview Plaza, in Waterbury. The Watermark at East Hill announced multiple events and meetings open to the public throughout the month of June. Thursday, June 8: Professional Networking "All Things Chocolate" - Love chocolate? Join other local professionals for an evening of networking while enjoying different types of this favorite treat - 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 16: Discovery Luncheon - Grilling Made Easy. Attend this informative luncheon on the continuing care retirement community and learn about the art of grilling just before the summer season begins - 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 28: Caregiver Support Group. Family and friends of those living with Alzheimer's are encouraged to attend for up-to-date research and information on the disease. Director of Health Services, Denise Julian, will provide emotional support and problem solving for the challenges of giving care to those with Alzheimer's or other dementia - 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. All events are free of charge, but reservations are required. New Business Banking Vice President joins Ion Bank
Ivan Shiffman, an SBA Preferred Lender, has joined Ion Bank as Vice President of Business Banking. In this role, Ivan will be responsible for commercial loan production, deposit generation, and partner referrals focusing on supporting the borrowing needs of small to mid-size businesses throughout Connecticut with an emphasis on the western and central parts of the state. Prior to joining Ion Bank, Mr. Shiffman was Vice President, Business Banking at Union Savings Bank in Danbury. He is currently an active member of the New Milford, Brookfield, TriBury and Waterbury Chambers of Commerce, New Milford Business.com (local affiliation of successful businesses), a Board Member of the New Milford Economic Development Corporation, and a member of the Southbury Business Association. Ion Insurance Welcomes Adam Purcaro
Ion Insurance Corporation, a full-service independent insurance brokerage affiliated with Ion Bank, has hired Adam Purcaro as an Account Manager. In his new position, Adam will be responsible for sales and service of Ion Insurance products. Mr. Purcaro was previously employed at Street Smart CT in Hamden as an Account Executive, Head of Insurance Agency, and at PFP in Orange, as an Account Manager. Adam is a Management Training graduate of Dale Carnegie of West New England, and is currently pursuing a degree in finance at Naugatuck Valley Community College. He is a Boys Basketball Coach at St. Francis St. Hedwig School, an Assistant Coach for the Union City Little League, and a Youth Basketball Coach at the Naugatuck YMCA. O&G Industries Holds Touch-a-Truck, Receives Award for O&G Builds Program
O&G Industries held its third annual Touch a Truck event on May 6 at its South Main Street Maintenance Facility. An estimated 2200 visitors attended the event. This popular community outing is the culmination of the company's annual Safety Week. Safety Week training and awareness activities are held at every O&G job site and facility across Connecticut. Touch a Truck is a company outreach tailored to families, giving children the opportunity to explore heavy equipment and participate in a variety of activities. In addition to more than 40 different pieces of construction equipment for visitors to explore, Torrington Fire and Police Departments and area businesses with specialized vehicles brought them to the event. The company recently received the Midstate Chamber of Commerce's Innovation in Education award for the O&G Builds program at Platt High School in Meriden. O&G Builds is a nine-month experiential learning program in which high school students earn credits, while learning hands-on about careers in construction. As a part of the program, students get a behind the scenes look into the construction of their school, while engaging in interactive lectures from the project management team, design team and trade contractors as the project moves through the final phases of construction. The O&G Builds program has been recognized with the Connecticut Construction Industries Association (CCIA) Community Service Award in 2014 and the Midstate Chamber of Commerce Recognition for Business & Education Excellence in 2015. Record Attendance at the 4th Annual Women's Business Development Council Women-Owned Business Day at the Hartford Capitol
The 4th Annual Women's Business Development Council (WBDC) Women-Owned Business Day took place on May 3rd at the State Capitol in Hartford with a record number of people in attendance. Under the theme of "Let Women's Voices & Worth Be Known," 16 presenters, including WBDC CEO Fran Pastore and Governor Dannel P. Malloy spoke to nearly 200 attendees about the importance of supporting women-owned businesses and the positive impact they have on the economy. The event gave attendees an opportunity to speak directly with elected officials and business leaders on matters of critical importance to women-owned business, from legislation to improving the business climate in Connecticut to access to capital and funding. WBDC Women-Owned Business Day was sponsored by Traveler's and Praxair, Inc., and produced in partnership with CTNext, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Connecticut Innovations, a leading source of financing and ongoing support for Connecticut's innovative, growing companies.The WBDC, a 501(c)(3) founded in 1997, is headquartered in Stamford with offices in Danbury, Derby and Hartford.
