August 31, 2015

The IDOT funded Southwestern Illinois Freight Transportation study was released on August 20, 2015 at a well-attended Regional Freight Forum.  The study provides us both data and direction:
  • Data on our excellent position for freight job growth
  • Direction on the right opportunities to focus on for growth in both freight and manufacturing jobs
And, the St. Louis Regional Freight District's launch is perfectly timed to implement the study's recommendation.

Opportunity may be ahead as General Darren McDew is installed as commander of U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base.  He points out the imperative of cyber security excellence for the U.S. Military - a clear threat that can be an opportunity for job growth in the region.

Read on for details on these and other growth initiatives in Southwestern Illinois!
