City Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, May 22
The regularly scheduled City Council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. (work session starts at 6 p.m.) Mon. May 22.

City facilities to be closed in observance of Memorial Day
Most City facilities will be closed on Memorial Day, May 29. Trash or curbside recycling collection will not be affected. 
Hot Sounds of Summer Concert Series
Mark those calendars now for the City of Burleson's 2017 Hot Sounds of Summer Concert Series. The wide variety of artists are sure to satisfy a wide variety of music enthusiasts, with bands that range from country to soul and blues, disco and cover bands every Friday night, May 26 - June 30, at 7:30 p.m. The free 90-minute concerts are held in Old Town.
  • May 26: Bubba Harper 24/7 Band (True Traditional Country)
  • June 2: Memphis Soul (Soul/Motown/R&B)
  • June 9: Wayne the Train Hancock (Western Swing, Blues and Old-Timey Country)
  • June 16: Le Freak (Disco)
  • June 23: Graceland Ninjaz (Variety with a twist of Elvis)
  • June 30: Fin City (A Jimmy Buffet cover band)
  • July 4: Trio Grande (ZZ Top cover band) this concert will be held at Chisenhall Fields during the city's Fourth of July celebration.
Street closures in Old Town Burleson (124 W. Ellison St.) will start at 4 p.m. each Friday, come down early and eat at one of the more than half a dozen restaurants, then set up your lawn chairs and blankets in the street. Food and drink are allowed at the concerts, but patrons are strongly discouraged from bringing glass bottles, due to safety reasons.

Fire hosts Junior Fire Academy 
Sign your child up today! 

What does it really take to be a firefighter? Your future fifth grader can discover that this summer when the Burleson Fire Department hosts four free one-day Junior Fire Academy sessions in 2017 (two sessions are already full). The deadline to apply is June 2. 

Dates available are:
  • Wednesday, June 21 or 28
  • Academy runs from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. 
Each academy is limited to 12 students.
