HAPPY NEW YEAR!
THE 2016 SEASON OPENS TODAY
AS OFFICIAL SCORE POSTING BEGINS!
Next on the tee...YOU! The official 2016 score posting season for golfers with a USGA-GHIN Handicap Index issued by the RDGA begins today, April 15.
PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAY ON 2016 RDGA SCHEDULE
Golfers throughout the
Rochester District Golf Association
, rejoice: today marks the start of the official
USGA-GHIN score posting season
for 2016 - in other words...
HAPPY NEW YEAR
!
As of TODAY, April 15, the RDGA handicapping season is active and will continue through October 31. It is important to know that any scores made in the Rochester area between now and then should be posted and will be applied towards your USGA-GHIN Handicap Index.
And now that score posting has begun, this year's RDGA Tournament Schedule is also about to get under way. This year's schedule has something for all golfers - men, women, seniors and juniors - and the year's first events are just a hint of what's to come.
The 2016 RDGA tournament season opens with two of our popular "Play Day" events in the first two weeks. RDGA Play Days give golfers of all abilities - men and women - the opportunity to play some of the area's top country clubs in a tournament setting with full handicaps! Although our season-opening RDGA Play Day at Irondequoit Country Club on Monday, May 2 is officially SOLD OUT, RDGA members can still register to be placed on a waiting list for the event (your registration fee will be refunded if no spots become available). The Irondequoit Play Day will be followed a week later by our second RDGA Play Day of the year at Penfield Country Club on Monday, May 9.
Also scheduled for the first two weeks of the season are our fun annual two-person team events, including the annual RDGA Two-Person Scramble at Greystone Golf Club on Saturday, May 7, and the RDGA Two-Person Four Ball, scheduled for Saturday, May 14 at Eagle Vale Golf Club.

RDGA RULES OFFICIAL SCORES
NEAR-PERFECT RESULT IN USGA RULES EXAM
Congratulations to
RDGA Rules Official Andrew Conway, who recently attended the
2016 USGA Rules of Golf Workshop in
Boston, where he scored a
97 (out of 100) for the final exam, placing him among the elite Rules officials throughout the country!
A year ago, following a disappointing score of 72 in the final exam, Conway, a Rochester-area attorney, embarked on a mission to improve his knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf - and to submit a perfect score in the final exam at this year's USGA Rules of Golf Workshop, held in mid March.
According to Rochester District Golf Association Vice President Mark Battle, "Andy immersed himself in gaining knowledge with the Rules and put that knowledge to work officiating 6 or 7 RDGA events this past summer. His thirst for knowledge made him a worthy and deserving candidate to reach his full potential as it relates to the Rules of Golf."
Although his efforts netted Conway a slightly less-than-perfect score, his 97 in the final exam this year ranks higher than the score required by the USGA to become an official for the U.S. Open!
"Andy's score, to me, proved to me his dedication and commitment to become the best Rules official he can be," added Battle.
