Golfers in the Junior Boys Division tee off in the RDGA Junior Classic event at Bristol Harbour Golf Club & Resort on Wednesday, June 29. The RDGA Junior tournament schedule continues throughout July, concluding with the RDGA Junior, Sub Junior and Pee Wee Championships at Clifton Springs Country Club on August 2 through 4.

Now that summer is here and schools are out, the local junior golf season is in full swing. And, with junior golf in full swing, that also means that
RDGA junior members
are hitting the local links - and getting ready for the
2016 RDGA Junior Championships
later this summer at
Clifton Springs Country Club
.
Already under way are
the annual
RDGA Junior Classic
events - for boys and girls, ages 12-14 (Sub Junior) and 15 to 17 (Junior). The first Junior Classic was hosted by
Bristol Harbour Golf Club
on Wednesday, June 29. Bristol Harbour's own
Samuel Weinstein

And the rest of the month of July is filled with RDGA Junior tournament activity, including:

PEE WEE CLASSIC, DAY 1
at Buttonwood GC - Friday, July 8. The RDGA Pee Wee Classic events - for boys and girls ages 7 to 11 - will be hosted by Buttonwood Golf Course in Spencerport on July 8 and July 22. A great way for young juniors to get their start in tournament golf, the Pee Wee events both feature a brief instructional clinic, followed by nine holes of golf.

- BOYS JUNIOR & SUB JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS at ParkView Fairways - Tuesday, July 19. ParkView Fairways will host the 2016 Boys Sub-Junior and Junior Championship Qualifiers. With the exception of defending RDGA Junior Champion Jack O'Donovan, any Sub-Junior or Junior boy golfer hoping to play in the District Championships must first play in the Qualifier at ParkView Fairways. Those players who qualify are automatically entered into the Boys Junior and Boys Sub Junior Championships. Registration closes on July 12. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
- PEE WEE CLASSIC, DAY 2 at Buttonwood GC - Friday, July 22. A continuation of the 9-hole Pee Wee Event that began on July 8, Day 2 of the event is also $15 per golfer and includes lunch and a clinic. Golfers can sign up for either one OR both Pee Wee events, but registration closes on July 1. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
- 2016 JUNIOR, SUB-JUNIOR & PEEWEE CHAMPIONSHIPS at Clifton Springs Country Club - Tuesday-Thursday, August 2-4. Clifton Springs Country Club will host the top-qualifying boys and girls for the 2016 District Junior, Sub-Junior and Pee Wee titles. The Junior Boys and Girls will square off in rounds of single-elimination match play to decide the title, while the Sub Junior Boys will also compete in match pay and the Sub Junior Girls will compete 9 holes of stroke play each day of the Championship (for a total of 27 holes). The Pee Wee competition will feature 18 holes of stroke play, with nine holes each on August 3 and 4. Registration closes on July 12. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.

- AND SENIOR WOMEN'S -
CHAMPIONSHIP AT RIDGEMONT!
Women RDGA members - are you among the top players at your home club? Interested in networking with some of the other top women amateurs in the District? The prestigious 2016 RDGA Women's Championship Danielle E. Downey Memorial is being hosted by Ridgemont Country Club on July 15 and 16 - this is your chance to enter the premier RDGA championship featuring the top women amateurs in the Rochester area!
And, new this year -
for players 50 and over (as of July 15)
- there is also the
RDGA Women's Senior Championship
, being played concurrently with the Women's Championship.
Along with being an important opportunity to support women's amateur golf in the Rochester area, this event is also a tribute to the life and contributions of Danielle Downey, who worked to advance women's golf throughout her life.
Registration for the RDGA Women's Championship is $135, which includes a lunch buffet and practice round on Tuesday; competition rounds on Friday and Saturday; a tee gift; use of the driving range throughout the Championship; lunch each day; and prizes. Following the conclusion of the Championship, you, and a guest, are invited to attend a free hors d'ouvres reception.
Registration for the 2016 RDGA Women's Championship is open through July 6

Top finishers receive ribbons from WNYPGA Section Executive Director Joe Bertino following the conclusion of the local Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifier at Genesee Valley Golf Club on Thursday. Top finishers advanced to the next stage of qualifying later this summer.
GENESEE VALLEY HOSTS FIRST OF FOUR REGIONAL DRIVE, CHIP & PUTT QUALIFIERS
On Thursday, June 30, Genesee Valley Golf Course hosted the first of four regional qualifiers for the 2017 Drive, Chip & Putt Championships.
Coordinated by the Western New York PGA Section, in conjunction with the Rochester District Golf Association and the New York State Golf Association, the Genesee Valley Drive, Chip & Putt qualifier included 145 registered junior golfers, ages 7 through 15 from Western New York, Southern Ontario and Pennsylvania.
Each participant hit three drives, three chips and three putts, with point total based upon how well each shot was made.
The other regional Drive, Chip & Putt qualifiers this summer include the J.C. Martin Golf Course in Erie, Pa. on July 7; Harvest Hill Golf Club in Buffalo on July 20; and Fox Valley Country Club in Buffalo on July 26.
The top overall finishers advance to the next stage of qualifying, which will be hosted by Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey in late August. From there, top finishers advance to the National Drive, Chip & Putt Championship at Augusta National next April.
