May Team Weekend Recap

On May 20, ASCCA convened in Sacramento for their May Team Weekend of committee and board meetings. Vice President Rocky Khamenian welcomed the members in attendance, and began the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and a statement of ASCCA's Mission Statement, Core Purpose, Core Values, and Code of Ethics.  

State-mandated Retirement Program Now in Force 

A new law took effect on Jan. 1, 2017 that will require California employers with five or more workers to offer their staff a retirement plan or enroll them in a new state-run retirement program.
The law, the first of its kind in the nation, is expected to become a blueprint for other states that are considering creating their own retirement plans.
Non-compliance with Exclusion Rules May Cost You
 In the last quarter of 2016 you should have received correspondence both from us and your insurance carrier if you have claimed any owners or officers as exempt from workers' compensation coverage on your policy.
The notification was in response to Assembly Bill 2883, which amended rules related to the exclusion of officers and members of boards of directors of private or quasipublic corporations, general partners of a partnership and managing members of a limited liability company under a workers' compensation policy.
