Thanks to Camp Atterbury Volunteers

We are so grateful to Habitat supporters from Camp Atterbury who come out on a regular basis to build with our mid-week crew!  Best of luck to Chaplain Glenn Palmer as he leaves for his station change to Fort Jackson, South Carolina. And welcome to Major Christopher Blank who says of building with Habitat, "Our organization, the 157th Infantry Brigade, always looks for opportunities to engage with the local community. Habitat's mission is great and we are so happy to partner ."

Habi-Magic from the Build Site

One of our 2017 Women Build volunteers was in for a unique surprise when she arrived to site on the morning of her build day. Deborah arrived at the corner of W. Wylie Street to discover that the future home of Herb Ault and his two grandchildren sits exactly where she used to live. Not only that, Deb gave birth to her daughter while living in the house. "I was on bedrest during my pregnancy, so spent quite a bit of time at home. We didn't have a lot of money, and it wasn't a nice house. But I have happy memories of laying in the hammock outside with Mariza after she was born."

Deb was excited to be a part of Women Build - fundraising before her build day, and volunteering on site - even before making this connection.  To be a part of Herb's family's new beginning in the same spot where Deb raised her little girl was incredibly moving.

After wiping away tears, Deb shared with us that she also brought rain jackets for everyone on her team! This generous spirit, and the willingness of all our Women Build 2017 supporters to give back to the community, helped to keep our build days bright, even when the weather was gloomy.
Thank you for your time!
