What critics are saying...
What Beauty and the Beast rises or falls on is the love story, and here, allowed to slow down to let in intimate moments, the movie catches fire. It's an exhilarating gift. --Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
*******
Beauty and the Beast is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle's enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast's hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul within. The film stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans and several other well-known actors as members of the enchanted staff. The music is scored by eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken (who won two music Academy Awards for the 1991 animated film) and includes several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.
