A PROUD COMMUNITY PARTNER
CanDo was delighted when Treasury Wine Estates asked us and several of our community partners, for the third year running, to organize activities for their employees during their Global Volunteering Week.
Last week, friendly volunteers from TWE planted oak seedlings, picked up trash from the riverbanks, renewed and stabilized trails, and helped out in the Connolly Ranch gardens.
And, of course, a big shout-out to Treasury Wine Estates and their employees for their commitment to give back to the communities they serve. To l
ongtime CanDo volunteer Margret Smetana, who once again did a superb job of coordinating this undertaking: you go, girl!

Alphabet Soup:
the new language of sexual and gender identity
Tuesday, June 6, 7-9PM
Napa County Library
LGBTQ Connection, PFLAG Napa, and Napa Valley CanDo celebrate Pride Month by collaborating in an exciting forum on our rapidly evolving understanding of sexual and gender identity and the language we use to describe it.
Says Eliseo Rivas, Program Coordinator for LGBTQ Connection,
"This forum is for anyone who wants to engage the idea that there can be diverse genders and sexualities - more than straight or gay, more than man or woman.
Rosemarie Vertullo, President of PFLAG Napa says, "
We're proud to support this vital forum to educate the community on LGBTQ and gender identity. June is Pride month and it is an important time for us to reflect on our acceptance of our entire community and its diversity."

SAFEWAY OPEN:
CanDo Volunteer Coordinators
f
Good with people?
Comfortable with logistics?
Willing to learn easy ways to sign-up CanDo volunteers and their friends?
The Safeway Open PGA golf tournament at the Silverado Resort and Spa runs Wednesday, October 4 through Sunday, October 8.
For a second year
CanDo is honored to have been invited
to provide volunteers. This year, we will staff the first tent visitors pass as they enter the course. Our task is simple: During each 3-4 hour shift, CanDo volunteers will sell tickets that visitors may exchange for food and beverages at hospitality tents throughout the course.
In exchange for providing this service, CanDo receives a donation from Silverado calculated at $20 per volunteer hour. That means we can earn $4000 to support CanDo's projects.
Not only that, each day a volunteer works - even for just one shift - they have free access to the tournament and evening concerts!
We're looking for two people who'll work together.
They'll team-up to make sure CanDo's volunteers are where they need to be and are supported in the work they're being asked to do.
Simply write GOLF in the subject line.

The Choices We Make
Napa Valley CanDo seeks to inspire and facilitate action
by alerting interested Valley residents about opportunities for service. If you participate as a volunteer in an activity that you learned about through Napa Valley CanDo, whether initiated by CanDo or another organization, please take personal responsibility for your involvement. Use common sense. Only you can determine whether an activity is a good
fit, that is to say
compatible with your interests and abilities.
