FY 2015-16 URMD Annual Report released
URMD Annual Report
The Washington County Urban Road Maintenance District (URMD) published its FY 2015-2016 Annual Report.
Property owners in urban unincorporated Washington County pay $0.2456 per $1,000 assessed value in service district tax for URMD - less than $75 per year on a home assessed at $300,000. These tax dollars are used to fund maintenance on more than 446 miles of neighborhood streets within the URMD district. In FY 2015-2016, pavement on about 94 percent of URMD neighborhood streets was rated in "good" or better condition.
URMD also funds small safety improvements. In its first four years, URMD's Safety Improvement Program funded about $9 million for 25 safety improvement projects. Another $250,000 is allocated annually to the county's Neighborhood Streets Program (NSP), which coordinates traffic-calming activities on neighborhood streets to improve safety and maintain livability in urban unincorporated neighborhoods.
A citizen advisory committee reviews URMD services and makes recommendations about service levels, maintenance plans and safety improvements. Residents, property owners and users of URMD-maintained streets are encouraged to complete the committee's URMD customer satisfaction survey.
The FY 2015-2016 Annual Report is available online. To request a printed copy, call 503-846-ROAD (846-7623) or email [email protected].
