June 1, 2017 - Delray Beach is at the epicenter of a South Florida overdose epidemic that claimed more than 1,000 lives last year. And many of those victims were from out of state. They come by the thousands to get well. South Florida has long been a destination for world-class addiction treatment ... "As soon as they extract all this insurance money from them and they test positive, they kick them out on the street with their wheelie luggage," said Sidney Goodman, founder of Caron Renaissance, one of the oldest, most respected drug treatment providers in the region.

MAY 31, 2017 - Close to 200,000 Americans have died by overdosing on prescription painkillers, and a new report traces some of the blame to five simple sentences written nearly 40 years ago. The sentences, containing just 101 words, appeared in a 1980 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

June 2, 2017 - Wellness Center of Palm Beach is the latest drug treatment center to be raided by the Palm Beach County Sober Home Task Force. Delray Beach Police Det. Nicole Lucas, a member of the task force, reported the May 30 raid on her Facebook page and asked patients who want to give a statement to send her a private message on Facebook. No arrests have been made as a result of the raid.

'Pimping out' drug addicts for cash
 June 1, 2017 - In Philadelphia, addicts have become a cash crop, used by some treatment centers and recovery houses to create a perpetual money churn. On the street, it's called "pimping out." PHOTO: The main office of Women Walking in Victory & Empowered Men at 2441 N. 29th Street, an agency run by Renee Payton with 12 recovery houses with around 100 residents. Though some have accused her of sending residents to treatment centers for kickbacks, she denies it.

June 5, 2017 - A 74-year-old Mountain View woman who ran a pain management clinic in the South Bay was sentenced last month to four years in prison after an investigation found she gave one of her patients prescriptions for "hundreds" of pills including Oxycodone, Flexeril and Clonazepam. The patient was found dead in his home after ingesting the narcotics.
