United we stand!
As more details emerge of the horrific incidents in London at the weekend - one thing comes across to me loud and clear - that is the bravery and empathy shown by members of the public and the public services in the face of extreme danger and adversity.
These are no ordinary times, the enemy is in our midst. Living right amongst us, under our umbrella of a free, caring and tolerant society. When they come calling with their twisted views and hatred, they are met with bravery and defiance, whether that is the policeman running towards danger, the bystander fighting back or administering comfort and first aid, the surgeons pulling 16 hr shifts, the taxi drivers shuttling people away from danger. The British spirit is very much alive and kicking.
Our hearts, our thoughts, our prayers go out to those directly affected by these atrocities. We all need to be vigilant, we all need to stand united. The Churchillian World War II spirit sums it up best - keep calm and carry on.
