UCSF Fresno Names Ivan Gomez as Chief of Family and Community Medicine

UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program recently appointed of Ivan Gomez, MD, FAAFP, as Chief of Family and Community Medicine and Vice-Chair of Family and Community Medicine at UCSF. Dr. Gomez was inducted into the Academy in 2015. Read more
S. Andrew Josephson, MD
Andy Josephson Appointed Chair of Neurology

Dean Talmadge E. King, Jr., MD, announced the appointment of S. Andrew Josephson, MD, as the new chair of UC San Francisco's Department of Neurology, effective July 1. Dr. Josephson has been a member of the Academy since 2008 and is a member and former chair of the Academy's Membership Committee. Read more

Catherine Lucey Appointed Executive Vice Dean

Dean Talmadge E. King, Jr., MD, announced the appointment of Catherine Lucey, MD, as the Executive Vice Dean for the School of Medicine. She will continue to serve in her important role as Vice Dean for Education. Dr. Lucey was inducted into Academy in 2014. Read more

The Teaching Observation Program (TOP): Introduction to Peer Assessment of Teaching
Friday, Jun. 23, 9 a.m-noon

Eligible for Academy service*
In the CFE, our vision is a culture of peer observation of teaching at UCSF through an easily accessible Teaching Observation Program (TOP). We've created a low barrier process to become a TOP Observer through our in-person workshops. TOP, established by the Academy in 2005, strives to serve all UCSF faculty with teaching observations and peer feedback. Register today

*Academy members who have not received TOP training or need a refresher are strongly encouraged to attend.

The Edward J. Stemmler, MD Medical Education Research Fund of the NBME is pleased to announce that the 2017-2018 call for Letters of Intent has begun. The application deadline is July 1, 2017.   Applicants may apply online.

Nominate your colleagues for a Chancellor Award for Diversity. These awards recognize exemplary efforts to promote and create diversity, equity and inclusion in local, regional and global settings by UCSF faculty, staff, student, residents, and  postdoctoral scholars. Nominations due June 13.
