The new EZ Pull system on the Blue Course
As we continue to strive for excellence and fulfill our vision of being Canada's Premier Shotgun Sports Facility, we are thrilled to offer our members and guests the NEW Blue Course !

We have just upgraded to the EZ Pull  Target Management system on the Blue Course and added two more clay target machines to each of the 14 stations; now a total of 4 machines at each station. Your options for target presentations and combinations has increased phenomenally!! You can choose to make it as easy or as hard as you wish. In addition we have also redesigned station #5, raising the shooting platform another 8 feet in the air for a whole new look at the targets.

"The blue course is more fun than ever!  The new controllers and additional machines at each stand enable amazing variety....in essence three different courses of varying difficulty. WONDERFUL!"   Thanks Jason

" Along with enjoying the beauty of Silver Willow, we now get to stay longer to shoot the course all over again in a different way. What a great way to spend the day!" Thanks Isabel

We have received great comments from both Members and Non-Members alike on how impressed they are with the new improved Blue Course.

Come out and give it a try for yourself!

Ladies Learn To Shoot - May 21st

This springs Ladies Learn to Shoot was another successful event, the weather was warm and enjoyable. We had a great group of ladies who came out experienced the fun and excitement of blasting some clays
at our semi annual event. It was a half day affair starting with breakfast, safety orientation, shooting on the green course & a lovely buffet lunch.

A BIG thank you to all the NSCA instructors who volunteered their time to share in their passion for the sport.

This year our Fall Ladies Learn to Shoot and Anne Oakley Fun Shoot is on Sunday, Sept 24th.

" I just want to thank you all for the wonderful experience today at the ladies learn to shoot function. I know I am already a member, but have done little shooting to date and today was a great boost to confidence and created a chance to meet others. I may now have some new friends to come shoot with! A day like this requires a lot of organization and every detail was very well covered, from the food, to safety, equipment, to staff, to the instructors and even the weather smiled on us! It was great fun and an enjoyable experience."

Feature Article - All About Chokes

by Luther Cutts

Chokes

The choke built into the muzzle of a shotgun is a feature that is unique to shotguns - it is not seen in either handguns or rifles.  The choke is designed to control the spread of the shot cloud as it leaves the barrel.  Properly designed, the choke can encourage the shot to begin spreading, creating a wider pattern, right away, or it can cause the shot to remain in a denser pattern, allowing the shotgun to be more effective on targets that are further from the shooter.

The choke is found inside the barrel of the shotgun, extending back from the muzzle.  Some chokes are integral with the barrel - they were formed as the barrel was being made and they are not easily changed.  These are typically referred to as "fixed"chokes.  Fixed chokes were all that was available to shooters in the not-too distant past.  If your gun came with a Full choke, then that was all you had unless you bought another barrel, or had a machinist remove some barrel material and change your choke.

MULLER CHOKE SALE

FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE
ALL "IN-STOCK" MULLER CHOKES ARE 25% OFF!

Targets in Sporting Clays or 5-Stand can vary in size and distance, it is to the shooters advantage to select the choke that gives the proper pattern for a particular shot. Most Sporting Clays shooters choose an extended choke for three reasons.

1. Extended chokes as a rule give a more even pattern than the flush    versions.

2. They are easier to change.

3. The name of the constriction is normally marked on the head.
