Please mark June 9th on your calendars and join us for the opening reception of our 2017 Photography Senior Thesis Exhibition.  Every June we hold a public  exhibition  of our graduating seniors' thesis projects; thesis is a nine-month, self-directed project of the student's choosing.  The opening reception is well attended by industry professionals and is a wonderful evening celebrating our students'  photography.  This year's event will be held at the Leonard Pearlstein Gallery in the URBN Annex at 3401 Filbert Street.

Western Landscapes
 
Paul Runyon, Associate Professor and Program Director of Photography, led six seniors on a field trip as part of the Western Landscape photography course over the Spring term break. In addition to having spectacular landscape to photograph, the students learned firsthand about industrial tourism, land use, geology and the politics of water in the west over their 11 day, 2400 mile road trip through remote areas and national parks.

Stops included: Hover Dam, Lake Meade, Capitol Reef National Park, Escalante National Park, Calk Creek Falls, Goblin Valley, Little Wild Horse Canyon, Devils Garden, Canyonlands National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, Monument Valley Tribal Park and the Grand Canyon.

Press and Shows

Shan Cerrone and Mike Colosimo, alumni, have recently launched Color Space Labsa photo+video lab in Kensington, Philadelphia. They offer workstation rentals, large format printing on an Epson 11880, film scanning, and a full service shooting studio. We also have a large portion of our lab dedicated to be an exhibition space. With these upcoming exhibits:
July 7th - DPRK - Photos from North Korea  by Charles Cerrone 
August 4th - Photos from Cuba by  Branden Eastwood  + Photos from Armenia by Matt Mangigian (Film & Video Alumni 14)

Shan just  had three images accepted to the  2017 Spirit of Flight Photography Exhibition  in Seattle Washington, gallery is June 17th.

Nathan Cluss, alumnus, is in New York City, recently finishing up a stint with  Art Department, the agency and is now working at Pier 59 studios as an Equipment coordinator.  He is  also a studio manager for Christain Anwander and freelance assistant and digi tech for other photographers. 

Nathan also shot a small holiday campaign for Intentionally Blank, a shoe company in LA. and is shooting.

Michael Froio, a lumnus, Facility Manager, and Associate Professor,  will have several pieces in an exhibition, titled, William H. Rau: Openings - Urban, Rural, Rail on view May 19 through September 9 at the Southern Alleghenies Art Museum in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The exhibition features nearly 30 albumen photographs by Rau, the official photographer of the Pennsylvania Railroad at the turn of the 20th century as well as works by Froio whose ongoing p roject,  From the Mainline , draws inspiration for historical imagery like Rau's. 

Tyler Haughey, alumnus, recently had a photo in the Critical Mass Top 50: Markers of Time exhibition at Artwork Network Gallery in Denver, CO.

He also had two of his photographs placed in Morgan Stanley's art collection. The large-format photographs will be hung in the company's newly-renovated office space in midtown Manhattan.

Harris Mizrahi, alumnus, won 3rd place in the Lens Culture Portrait awards for the series category.

Nicole Schwartz, alumna, is finishing up her MFA in Photography at the Rhode Island School of Design where she was awarded the T.C. Colley Award for Photographic Excellence and will graduate in early June. She is also currently in production of a small edition self published book titled, Four Eggs and a Hummingbird.   The project has recently been featured on  Ain't Bad.  She is  also featured in Don't Smile's female gaze online exhibition.
Nicole is also featured in  two upcoming group shows:
- May 24th, Rhode Island School of Design Graduate MFA Show at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, RI 
- July 20th, RISD MFA Photo, ClampArt, New York, NY

Jeffrey Stockbridge , alumnus, released his book, Kensington Blues on May 5th. An exhibition of the work is at Savery Gallery, 319N 11th Street and runs through June 2nd. 
Jeffrey was on Fox News discussing the project and received a writeup on  generosity.org

Jason Varney, alumnus, has new done new Editorial Work for Food & Wine, Prevention, and American Airlines. 
And new Advertising Work for Apple, V8 Vegetable & Fruit Juice/ Campbell's Soup Co., Honeygrow, New Amsterdam Spirits, High Noon Vodka, and Rival Bros Coffee Roasters. 

Rachel Wisniewski, alumna, is freelancing for newspapers Montgomery Media, the Bucks County Courier Times/Intelligencer and the Allentown Morning Call. She is also a staff photographer for Caviar, a freelance event photographer for Chorus Media Group, and a photo assistant for Brian Donnelly Studios.
