A Note from the President
Dear PPRA Members,

I don't know about you, but I always feel a sense of renewed joy this time of year, as the sun shines a little brighter and the flowers are in full bloom. It's an exciting time for PPRA, too, as we come together for celebrations that highlight the importance and evolution of our industry.

I hope to see you at our annual Hall of Fame luncheon May 24, when we recognize the achievements and contributions of longtime PPRA member, Dr. Bill Cowen.

Be sure to mark your calendars for our Annual Meeting on June 22, when we celebrate the 2016-17 programming year, induct our new Board of Directors, and honor young talent in the field. In addition, this year's special guest speakers will provide insight into the changing media landscape and how our industry can best adapt.

Because we are always looking to welcome new members to the PPRA community, I encourage you to invite prospective members to our final events of the year. These memorable occasions offer opportunities for networking, professional development, and inspiration. There is no better time to show prospective members what we are all about. And there is no better time to connect with one another and revel in our successes.

To quote this year's Hall of Fame honoree, Dr. Bill Cowen, "Let's all be proud of who we are and what we do."

Best,

Ashley Berke
2016-2017 President
Philadelphia Public Relations Association
Here's What You Missed
"What You Don't Know About Greater Philadelphia"
On April 27, PPRA held a special program designed to highlight the assets of Greater Philadelphia that make it a special place to live, work, play, dine, explore, create, and innovate. We discussed why our 11-county region rates so highly as an international gateway for business growth, tourism, financial services, technology, and research.

Upcoming Events
Join us as we induct a professional "triple threat'' into the Hall of Fame. Dr. Bill Cowen is a practitioner, professor, and philanthropist. A past president, he has been a passionate PPRA member for years, as well as owner and president of Metrospective Communications. He is the program director for the Department of Communications at Villanova and he finds time to support numerous charitable organizations in the Philadelphia region. Join the celebration at Union Trust with Emcee Ian Bush of KYW Newsradio and a host of other special guests. Purchase your tickets here

Join PPRA as we celebrate another successful programming year! We will recognize the winners of the 2017 PPRA Fast-Track and Dr. Jean Brodey Student Achievement Awards. We will then thank our outgoing president Ashley Berke and the 2016-2017 Board of Governors. We will also induct our incoming president Adam Dvorin and the 2017-2018 Board of Governors.

In addition, we will conduct an armchair discussion about new journalism models in the United States -- live from the city where a new model is being implemented.

We will hear from Terrance C.Z. Egger, Publisher and CEO of the Philadelphia Media Network, and Gabriel Escobar, editor of the Philadelphia Media Network's three media properties -- the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and Philly.com. Register here.
