Blaine County School District Announces Retirement of Assistant Superintendent John Blackman
Superintendent Dr. GwenCarol Holmes announced the retirement of Assistant Superintendent John Blackman, effective June 30. Blackman has accepted the position of Principal of Flathead High School with Kalispell Public Schools in Kalispell, Montana.
"John is known and admired by generations of families in Blaine County, first as an art teacher and football coach, then as an administrator and finally as the Assistant Superintendent. I am grateful to him for his public service to the children of Blaine County, whom he cares so deeply about," said Holmes. "We should all be as committed to the success of the students of this district as he has been," Holmes continued. Read more.

Students Recognized in PBS KIDS Writer's Contest
18 third graders from Hailey Elementary participated in the nationwide PBS (Public Broadcasting System) Writers Contest as part of a writing challenge group this school year. Nine students took their books to completion for submission to KIPT Public Television, writing a story or a collection of poems and illustrating their work with original drawings.

Marlowe Bradley won 3rd place in the state for third grade with
The Idahoan Mermaid.
Manay Whitcomb won 2nd place in third grade with her book of poetry titled Seasons.
