Mountain Matters May 2017:
Membership & Annual Giving

The spring is here at The Mountain and we are eagerly preparing to welcome our annual Homecoming Weekend and Annual Meeting guests on May 26-29. This is the time when active and life members support The Mountain Retreat & Learning Center by voting on matters of business and the election of Board Trustees. For the first time, we will have video conferencing capability during the Annual Meeting via Zoom, for people to watch the proceedings. See below for more details and to register.

As we move into our peak summer season, we invite you to begin or renew your membership and make a contribution to The Mountain's Annual Fund. Thank you for your support of this special place that has touched the hearts and lives of kids and adults for nearly 40 years!

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!

The Mountain Trustees are pleased to share that we have reached another milestone as a mature, healthy membership organization.  At the February meeting of the Board, the Nominating Committee (composed of board and non-board members) announced that we have an abundance of qualified individuals who wish to become Trustees.  For several years we have heard from some members that voting for an uncontested slate offered members no real choice. This year, our members were asked to make a selection of up to seven (7) trustees from a slate of ten (10) great candidates--click here for more info.

The qualifications of each of the candidates ensures we will have an outstanding Board next year regardless of which individuals are chosen to serve.  Our candidates are all willing to stand for election or re-election knowing that they may not be selected. Even more rewarding, they have all indicated such strong commitment that they will remain involved as volunteers, committee members and financial supporters--no matter what the outcome.

If you have not yet voted, you need to hurry because you only have until May 23rd to return your ballot.  Please email or call us at The Mountain if you have not received a ballot, (828) 526-5838.
