As we bring another school year to a close, we are celebrating our accomplishments and looking forward to a fantastic summer and another year of building community with all of you!
JOIN US THIS THURSDAY
Our annual celebration is just a few days away! There is still time to get a ticket, please come out and celebrate with us as we bring another successful year to a close. This year, we have partnered with Campaign for Black Male Achievement and will be premiering the documentary short I Am Somebody! Coupled with passed hors d'oeuvres and complimentary wine/beer, it promises to be an exciting evening. Come help us celebrate!

WORKING TOWARDS OUR GOALS
At The Commons, we have been working hard over the past few months, taking big steps towards achieving our goals as a community.
March saw us hold a parent workshop on understanding an individualized education program, and a community workshop by the Civilian Complaint Review Board followed in April.
Our youth participated in the National Math Festival in April, where they competed in a flagway tournament with other YPP students from across the nation. April also saw us hold another parent workshop, focused on immigrant family rights in the educational system. Our high school youth wrapped up the month with a party and presentation of their business plan.
April continued to grow our community as students from Trinity School came to spend some time with us (read about it in their words here). Easter celebrations lead the way to a very special senior luncheon for Mother's Day in May, complete with handmade centerpieces and cards made by our youth.  We closed out the month of May with another summit representing YPP, having one of our MLWs and staff travel to the We The People Math Literacy For All event in St. Louis hosted by the National Science Foundation.
BUILDING OUR FUTURE
After such a busy spring, we are energized by our progress and excited about working towards next year's goals. We would like to thank you all for your support and encourage you to share the spirit of our celebration this year--each one of us is somebody, and you just may be the somebody that makes all the difference in somebody else's life. The power of community starts with one.
There are so many ways to support our mission!
Please spread the word by sharing our newsletter and inviting your friends to like our social media pages; enthusiasm is infectious!

Through these  charitable giving programs, a company will match donations made by employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. Over 65% of Fortune 500 companies match employee donations.

Please ask your Human Resources Office about Employee Matching and fill out and submit the appropriate form the next time you make a personal donation to The DOME Project or Strycker's Bay Neighborhood Council.
