EXPECTATIONS FOR GRADUATION
Good evening parents and students of Milton's Class of 2017!
As we get closer to our Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, May 25, I wanted to take this opportunity to communicate the expectations for ALL GRADUATING SENIORS.

Other reminders as SENIORS finish their coursework/exams
-ANY disruption to the instructional day will result in that student (or students) NON-PARTICIPATION in Graduation Exercises
-Seniors, be respectful of the school and mindful that there is still instruction occurring until Thursday, May 25!
THANK YOU CLASS OF 2017

  THE IMPORTANCE OF THE EXERCISE
It is a much revered ritual in educational institutions everywhere. At the end of every school year, graduating students, whether they're little kids in grade school or young adults in college, walk solemnly towards the stage elegantly garbed in their robes and tassels. One cannot underrate the significance of such a moment as every student's journey towards graduation is filled with all sorts of trials and challenges.

However, graduation is not so much an ending but a new beginning. For grade school students, graduation is the beginning of their adolescent adventures as they let go of their parents' embrace and test their wings in high school. For high school students, graduation is the beginning of their journey to self-discovery as they unravel what it is that they really want out of life in college. For college students, graduation is the beginning of their "real" lives as they fly out from the warmth and comfort of the university.

Graduation serves as a catalyst for students to relish in academic achievements and a way for parents to celebrate how proud they are of their children. This landmark in everyone's lifetime is a moment that is definitely worth remembering and cherishing. The graduation ceremony itself is a symbolic event that represents all of the hard work and accomplishments that students have partaken in to earn their status as a graduate.

2017 PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS SEMIFINALIST - MICHAEL BROLLY
Each spring, the Commission on Presidential Scholars names up to 161 distinguished graduating high school seniors as U.S. Presidential Scholars.  Being selected is one of the highest honors our nation's high school students may receive.  So, we are pleased to announce that of the nearly 3.5 million high school seniors graduating this year, Michael Brolly was one of approximately 4,000 invitees to the United States Presidential Scholars Program and, recently named as one of the 700 semifinalists, 12 of whom are from the State of Georgia.  In connection with this honor, Michael named Ms. Lauren Paine as the educator who has influenced him most significantly during his high school years.  Congratulations to Michael and Ms. Paine!
