Dear Friends,

Today we celebrate the class of 2017 at the Commencement Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church.  I would like to congratulate these wonderful students and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

These students have grown into responsible, caring and contributing citizens of the Assumption Catholic School community. It is my hope that they will now go out into the world and spread the kindness, knowledge, and faith they learned at Assumption to make the world a better place. They certainly made Assumption a better place.

Congratulations to our graduates and best of luck in high school and beyond.

Field Day  was a Great Success

Thank you to Mrs. Ferullo for putting together a fantastic field day. The day was organized and ran smoothly due to her meticulous planning and preparing.

This event could not be possible without the help and support of our parent volunteers.  Thank you to everyone that donated time or money to the event.  A special thank you to Mr. Adamoski for doing a lot of the heavy lifting and spending the entire day at Owen Fish Park, setting up, filling water stations, breaking down, and transporting materials.

Farewell to Mrs. Meyers

After seven wonderful years of service to Assumption Catholic Schools we will be saying farewell to Mrs. Meyers at the end of this school year.  Mrs. Meyers will be moving, with her family, to Nashville, TN after school ends.  Her husband has been in Nashville since April, when he accepted a research position in the Chemistry Department at Vanderbilt University.

Our loss is the gain of the students, staff, and families of Cedar Elementary School where Mrs. Meyers has accepted a position teaching first grade. Mrs. Meyers has been an invaluable member of our school community. Her willingness to go the extra mile for the success of her students and constant desire to improve her craft has made her a beloved teacher and colleague. She will certainly be missed and we wish her all the best.

Parents are asked to join us for the final school Mass on June 13 to bid a fond farewell to Mrs. Meyers.

Mrs. Elizabeth Cahill has accepted the position of fifth grade teacher at Assumption for the 2017-18 school year. Mrs. Cahill is a highly qualified and experienced teacher. She is coming to Assumption from St. Jude School in Monroe.  St. Jude will be closing at the end of this year. Mrs. Cahill has over 20 years of teaching experience in the Danbury Public School System, her final six years were spent in the alternative middle school program in that district. Mrs. Cahill retired early from Danbury to continue her teaching career in the faith based schools of the Diocese of Bridgeport.

An informal meet and greet will be scheduled early in the summer so that students and families can welcome our new teacher.
