Hot Springs Summer Fun has Already Begun!
There are some exciting events & festivals happening in town this summer.
Two of these events are new to town this year. Be sure to check out event websites to confirm place and time.
Mark these events down on your calendar and get ready to celebrate:
Stop in at the Hot Springs Welcome Center for valuable information on short-term lodging, places to eat and outdoor areas to explore.
Inside the Center are fascinating photos and exhibits detailing our area's rich history and beautiful, natural world around us.
The Welcome Center is operated by the Hot Springs Tourism Association with support from the Town of Hot Springs and the Madison County TDA.

1st Annual Deep Water Soul Fest
The
Hot Springs Resort & Spa pulled out the stops and has created an amazing weekend music & camping festival for the whole family.
The festival takes place
on Friday, September 22 to Sunday, September 24. Along the banks of the French Broad River, on the newly expanded Main Stage of the Resorts campground, will be featured some fantastic Soul and R&B artists.
17 bands in 2 days!
Appearing onstage will be
Donna the Buffalo from Trumansburg, NY performing original and cover songs. Their feel-good groove oriented vibe of
folk-rock, reggae, & bluegrass has been wowing crowds since 1989.
Lukas Nelson and The Promise of the Real crank it up with their brand of cowboy, hippie, surf-rock. Playing live all over the country, they have recently opened for Sheryl Crow. Band members Lukas and Micah are sons of famous father Willie Nelson. The band also released their 3rd album. It's called "Something Real" with Neil Young lending his voice to track "San Francisco".
Alanna Royale is a 6 member band based in Nashville, TN. Their spunky blend of soul, funk and pop have added musical depth with the additional sounds of the bass, trumpet and trombone. The bands most recent album is "Achilles".
Amazingly talented local musician and songwriter from Marshall,
Andy Buckner, will perform. Expect vibrant sounds from
Pierce Edens and the Dirty Works and Asheville's energy-filled
The Pleasure Chest to keep you on your feet. Recording-artist
Ashley Heath and Her Heathens,
The Screaming J's and more will perform over the week-end.
This is a family friendly event. Children under 12 are free. A portion of the proceeds will go to
Madison County Arts Council and the
Madison County Community Learning Center.

German Internment Centennial
Friday, Sept 15 through Sunday Sept 17
One hundred years ago in 1917, our little town of Hot Springs was greeted by around 2,500 German Nationals arriving by train. The Government believed the isolated Mountain Park Hotel could accommodate the large number of Internees. When America entered WWI, German cruise ship crewmen, officers and guests alike were stuck on transatlantic cruise liners in New York's Hudson River Harbor.
For 18 months these and other Germans stayed within the fenced-in compound while the townsfolk guarded the Hot Springs Internment Camp.
In remembrance of this unusual time in history, Sunnybank Inn will be sponsoring a series of lectures, panel discussions, author readings, and walking tour during a three-day weekend. Documentary film by Kevin Kennedy "German Enemy Aliens in the Land of the Sky" will be shown at the Hot Springs Welcome Center. Expect a wreath laying ceremony at the Odd Fellows Cemetery to be performed by members of the German Consulate . A photo exhibit of the German "invasion" will be featured at the Welcome Center. Food trucks of German cooking will also be participating at the weekend event.

Garden planting season has begun. We have been blessed to have fresh produce, cheese, bread, and other handmade items available right here in town. Area farmers, bakers and other crafts folk have been on the front lawn of the Alpine Court on Bridge Street (Route 25/70) every Saturday since April.
At the Hot Springs farmers market you'll find plant starts, seasonal produce, earth-friendly cleaning products, crafts, delicious locally baked goods, cheese, meat and honey. Stop by to get all your good-for-you goodies from ...

If you are interested in greeting visitors and helping with special projects, please give the Administrator, Stacey Geyer, a call at (828) 622-7287. Paid positions may be available for those 55 and older through the Senior Service America program.
