You may have guessed that there is never a dull moment around the Studio and this past month has certainly proven that. With the overwhelming response to our Moroccan Mystery quilt, we had to order thousands of additional yards of the border print fabric used in the quilt. It arrived a couple of weeks ago and we've been filling orders nonstop. Our thanks to all of you who've been patiently waiting.

Read on to find out more about this beautiful quilt to the left, Arabic Tiles.

We have new fabrics and products to tell you about, events and tips and, of course, don't forget to scroll down to the bottom for clue #4 in our Moroccan Mystery quilt.
Introducing the Casablanca Mini-Stripe

My new mini-stripe, inspired by the Casablanca border prints has just arrived.
Arriving this month is my new fabric, a mini-stripe, inspired by the Casablanca border prints. While normally my border print fabrics have a narrow stripe and a wide stripe, the mini-stripe has only the narrow ½" stripes, which opens up entirely different design options.

Available in five colorways, during the next few months we will be introducing exciting new projects using these fabrics. Arabic Tiles is the first one and is showcased in this newsletter.

New Arabic Tiles Quilt & Template Set
As many of you have experienced, my border print fabrics can give a quilt using simple shapes a complex look. For Arabic Tiles, stars are created with fussy-cut diamonds and paired with additional diamonds made with my new mini-stripe fabric. See my blog this week on how this mini-stripe came about.

Kits for Arabic Tiles are available in one colorway and two sizes. For details on the kit, click here.

To make it easier to cut the pieces for Arabic Tiles,  I've created a template set with all of the templates you will need when making this quilt.  The three-piece set includes the 60° diamond plus templates to help fill in the edges.   This is a larger template (3") than our regular 2 1/4" and 2 1/2" templates--a perfect size for the border print stars.

New Product - King Tut Thread
Yes, it's no secret that I make my quilts entirely by hand but I know that many of you love your sewing machines.  My staff has pointed out the need to carry more products for machine sewers and quilters and they have picked out one of their favorites to carry at the Studio.

King Tut thread is a high-quality, 3-ply, 40 wt. thread created for machine quilting and made from extra-long staple Egyptian cotton making it super-smooth with very little lint.

The 500-yard spools are available in 26 variegated colors.

Shop Hop Previews

Quilters' Quest

It may still be months away but we are well into the planning of our 2017 Quilters' Quest. Visit the Quilters' Quest website to see a fun video we put together to tell you all about it. Participate in this great shop hop and leave the driving to us. Reserve a space on one of our two buses.
The 2017 Quilters' Quest colors. Each shop will have six inch swatch sets in these colors to use for the FREE patterns that are handed out in each shop!

Row by Row

This is the fourth year we've taken part in the Row by Row Shop Hop, the easiest shop hop around. Quilt shops from across the U.S. and Canada are finalizing plans for their rows with the theme, On the Go.

Here's a peek at this year's row called Homeward Bound, featuring flying geese and my patriotic batik fabric reminiscent of our Fourth of July celebrations here in the Washington, D.C. area.
The Row by Row Shop Hop kicks off June 21. The kits and FREE pattern for the row will only be available to people who come to the shop from June 21-September 5, 2017.  We  hope to see you soon!

Tip of the Month - Hole Punches and Templates
When making templates, I always keep a 1/16" hole punch handy. After my templates are cut out, I carefully use the hole punch to create small holes at the seam intersections or to mark the seam lines especially on curves. A pencil inserted in these holes to make small dots allows me to sew dot-to-dot and to perfectly match my seam intersections.

The hole punch and template film are on sale now through Tuesday evening as our Weekly Web Special.

Free Aurifil Thread Lecture

The morning lecture is already full but we still have a few openings for the afternoon session. Alex Veronelli, direct from Italy, will be in the Studio in July to give two free lectures on Aurifil thread with a behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing process, tips, stunning quilts and even gift bags. Visit our classes page for more information and to sign up.
