Complete Proof of Residency Online:
Set up an Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account

The 2017-2018 school year begins August 4, 2017. The annual collection of proof
of residency
documentation is NOW open online for those parents wishing to provide their documents
through Infinite Campus Portal. Parents wishing to provide documentation using this method must ensure they have activated a Portal account. Activation links are being emailed weekly to parents/guardians without activated accounts.

Parents wishing to present their documentation in person may do so at the Monroe County Board of Education beginning June 19, 2017. The collection schedule is as follows. Parents with last names A-D Monday, June 19, 2017; Parents with last names E-K Tuesday, June 20, 2017; Parents with last names L-R Wednesday, June 21, 2017; Parents with last names S-Z Thursday, June 22, 2017. Proof of residency will start each day a 8 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m.
Parents not able to present their documentation on the assigned date are welcome to do so on any day during the collection week.

MCBOE to Recognize 2016-2017 Retirees at Tuesday, June 13 Board of Education Meeting

The Monroe County Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, June 13. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the board room with a call to order and executive session. At 7 p.m., the BOE will recognize the 2016-2017 retirees in the central office auditorium followed by a reception.

Teachers Present Action Research Findings

Teacher leaders culminated a yearlong professional learning and action research project last week. They shared their action research findings with leadership. This year's teacher leader cohort participants who presented were: Trey Bernard, Mary Persons High School; Kasey Cone, TG Scott Elementary School; Sabrina Dorrity, Monroe County Middle School; Elizabeth Holloway, Mary Persons High School; Misty Sparks, KB Sutton Elementary School; Lynneth Whitten, TG Scott Elementary School.

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) and state partners have launched the Georgia Career Pipeline Tool, accessible at http://www.gacareerpipeline.gadoe.org . The Georgia Career Pipeline, developed by the GaDOE in partnership with business, industry, education and state-agency partners, is a web application that allows students and business/industry leaders to compare the CTAE programs offered in each Georgia high school with the workforce needs of specific regions within the state. This will provide students with helpful information on areas of growth within their region (or a region where they'd like to live after high school), allowing them to match the career education they pursue with available opportuni
ties. The tool will also allow businesses to see the availability of students with a specific skillset in any Georgia county, zip code, or Economic Development Region - helping them make important decisions concerning growth, development, and workforce needs. The Georgia Career Pipeline Tool is available for public use at

for business/industry representatives, students, teachers, school counselors, Chamber of Commerce and economic development leaders, postsecondary recruiters, state workforce associations, and any others who may find it useful.

Monroe County Schools offers an online colle
ction of ebooks and
audiobooks for all students and staff. All of these resources are available to your student during the school year and the summer months. Audiobooks and ebooks can be downloaded to a phone, tablet, laptop, or computer. The site is https://monroecsdga.libraryreserve.com . You can find the link to Overdrive on the system website or any school website. Students
use their same username and password credentials that are used to access the computers at school.
eBooks may be downloaded to a device anytime, anywhere. Users can also download the Overdrive app through the Google Play or Apple iTunes store.
 Through the Get Georgia Reading Program in partnership with http://www.myOn.com, students have access to 1000s of great enhanced ebooks. You can learn more about the program at http://about.myon.com/GetGAReading.

Public Notice: Destruction of Old Special Education Records of Former Students

The Monroe County Public School is planning on destroying old Special Education records in July 2017. The records to be destroyed are for persons who were served in special education born in 1995. If you desire to have your records, please contact the Department of Instructional Student Support 478-994-2031 x1604 or x1605. Records not picked up by July 30th, 2017 will be destroyed.
